Being true to oneself sounds good, and IS good. Though, I have a question: Does everyone agree on what is meant by "being true to self"? In my opinion, "being true to self" is admitting to ourselves our mistakes, errors, insecurities, fears, weaknesses, and most definitely, our strengths as well. The central idea is to never lie to ourselves. For example, we might not admit that we have certain holes in our expertise. We do this mostly with certain types of people - usually the easily excitable kind or the ones who are overly critical of us and try to take advantage of us if we admit our weakness(es) or even those who look to us for leadership. We try to always project a sense of confidence, expertise, knowledge, and strength. Yet, though we maintain (or try to) that projection/aura of capability and invincibility, we must never lie to ourselves. If we have holes in our knowledge or capacity, we must be aware of them and compensate for them by filling those holes or by including in our team(s) such people who can cover that gap. If we forget to compensate for our weaknesses and/or conversely neglect to rely on our strengths, we are setting ourselves up for setbacks. This does not mean that we should be fearful. Rather, we should be courageous - carefully. :) In conclusion, I firmly believe that we should believe in ourselves but we also should NOT take ourselves too seriously. :D

“Shreyo svadharma vignah parartha swanishtah Svadharma nidhan shreyah paradharma bhayavahah”- Bhagatvat Geetha. Do what you believe in strongly and true to urself. When you have the ability to follow your own instinct, following someone destructive for your growth. True to urself.

Dear Sumita, there is an one word answer to your debate is "enlightenment". Buddha, Jesus, and avatars of Vishnu all were enlighted being on the earth. until you enlighten yourself you can never be happy in your life. Many occasions you have to wear masks at office front. That is your post and position to carry out the jot as described by the management. but never loose your identity in your activities.

I think that if you are true to self then you may face some delay in achieving your goals but it is for sure that your efforts and honesty will get rewarded one day. Above all at the end of the day when you go to sleep you are contended that u haven't done anything wrong and u have a feeling of satisfaction for neither cheating others and nor yourself
