Many times in a courtship, we see that men abuse and torture their better halves and girlfriends, but still don't abandon the institution of marriage. In successful marriages, the woman always takes the back seat.The more qualified and rich the man, the worse is the treatment of the opposite sex. What is actually the purpose of marriage, and is it a redundant institution??

Nice question and I want to say that if they don't want to lead a happy life with their better halves as healthy individuals what is the point??!! A happy relationship is always a balanced relationship ... otherwise better go out of it and find or wait for the right person..

It is lake of balance of out side means earning and inside means expensing.Though running critical time of prise rate is the most main reason of all home wife because she has to feed and manage everything.

What do you mean by happy, first of all? Marriage is first for an orderly satisfaction of the biological needs of individual. When you say orderly there comes the decipline on various counts. Both the boy and the girl have a family and you have to be part of both and follow the rules and decipline of both. It is the union of two families and not just the boy and girl. You may live separately thats different. Many marriages fail once individuals desire for biological need gets satisfied to some extent and people get tired of sex. That is because they did not analyse and think before started theor love affair if theor families can come together, if they have similar likes and dislikes, if they have the broadmindedness to acsept each others weakness and accept each other as they are or have they thought they chnage the other as per their liking in due cours of time.

@ Neha, pls stop taking an isolationist point of view. there are tonnes of cases out there where the woman has subjugated / tortured her husband and created a lot of trouble in a marriage. Problems in a marriage starts with a woman usually be it the husbands mother or his wife.

Having said that it doesnt mean that there are no ideal couples out there !

MARRIAGE IS THE UNION OF TWO SOULS.  TWO SOULS SHARE LIFE WITH EACH OTHER, PROMISE EACH OTHER THAT THEY WILL NEVER SWERVE AT EACH AND EVERY MOMENT OF JOY AND SORROW.    

BOTH WALK THE TRADITIONAL SEVEN STEPS AROUND THE FIRE TO COMPLETE THE WEDDING RITUAL SINCE FIRE IS CONSIDERED AS AN AUSPICIOUS SIGN OF PURITY. THERE SHOULD BE UNDERSTANDING, FAITH AND LOVE BETWEEN BOTH TO LEAD A HAPPY LIFE.

Dear Ms Vijaya I support your views. The relationship between individuals as well as families. The dream will be true when we try to reach with honesty. Now men have no physical evidence of wrongdoings and women have. This is the discrimination God created. Hence less no. of men being honest to their better halves and live happily. Most of the families suffered problems which are created by men, of course, thrusted on women. Unless the modern boys changed the values and realise the real meaning of ''Equality'', then only families, at least in India, can taste what is happy married life.

The institution of marriage was set up to preserve and promote God's creation of The Human Race. It is a scientifically accepted fact that all matter is formed from energy. These forms of positive and negative energy The Yin and Yang, or Shiv and Shakti are responsible for Shrishti (creation). The incarnations of God both male and female are manifestations of these energy forms and one of the purposes was to show the way to human beings to live together. The marriage is really the union of two souls - two different energy forms which upon entry into this cosmic world manifest as physical male and female beings. "Marriage" even today for a girl is a security in life and satisfy biological need and for a boy a complete slave in many societies. Sad part is the educated woman and Young people just blindly follow the age old tradition. Young people think they are in love but actually they realise they are only trying to satisfy their biological needs. They realise their mistake only after marriage. They forget that the marriage is a bond between two families. Every young man/woman wants to do the same mistake their father and mother might have committed and wants to learn the same thing after they themselves comit the same mistake. There is aneed tom redefine marriage as per the requirement of modernday. Will this debate comeout with such definition and provide guidance to youngsters and reduce divorce or application of section 398A.

Marriage is the mutual bonding of two persons with lot of varying characteristics. They say....
