India's defeat in the 20-20 really disappointed the whole nation. Supposedly playing for pride, our team couldn't even chase 153 runs. Was this because of mismanagement from the board in selecting the players or it was the fault of players on the D-day?

Yes the BCCI is the main culprit here, they are making its main players work like machine and not giving them the much needed rest that is needed before a big tournament like this, even in IPL Indian players were so tired, and the way they performed this time around was like amateurs, they lost all the 3 matches in the super 8's and it was so evident where the team was not playing like a team, no body was complimenting each other on the field, tired looks all around as if they wanted to take the 1st flight back home, so a shameful performance by the world champions....BCCI should prioritize things first they gave much importance to IPL than T20 world cup, this did them in for sure according to me, the way they performed in Newzealand earlier and the way they performed in IPL and the T20 world cup there was a daylight of difference...and some of the people are overconfident because they are getting easy money with Ads and IPL and are not much concerned about their performance in the National team......

Board had selected the best team one can opt for. With killers like Yuvaraj, raina, dhoni among others i dont think someone can win if they still think they are not good enough. it was the on field performance which mattered in the end. Similar was the case with Aussies too.

Anyway lets hope for a better morning.

Smita, forget other countries,as indians we should know where fault lies in us. We can't let it be like that.No matter someone has to loose in game. But that doesn't mean we shouldn't be concerned about our players. Soft corners is there for our people coz they are "OUR PEOPLE". And about partying, why will they look tired when thats one of the reasons for their tiredness in the game? and why will someone inform management (If he is not physically hurt which can be detected very easily) when he is going to get thousands of dollars from the game?

Smita,But its the duty of the management also too keep a regular check on what players are doing daily,They are fit or not etc...something like,on the field, the players were easily visible to be tired which the board must not have noticed.Indeed the team was good but only records doesn't decide a perticular day's performance. They were not given proper rest and thats why they failed to present themselves

Sujit, But the Aussies are different in this regard. They never allow any player to go on the field till the last moment they feel he is not tired. Our management didn't do so.Thats the reason we failed inspite of having such a strong team

Thanks Nitin for supporting...Indeed, the management didn't give much rest to the players. On the top of that, even players were busy with Adds and Parties. Not only they could do sufficient practice but also during the game, tiredness was clearly visible on their face..

BCCI is the main culprit. They are using players as a machine. all the players are heavily boke down with the number of matches, prices are very high, hence enticing the players to play more. No body wants to loose the money. Ethics are not there, not like Rahul Dravid, Sachine Tendulkar, who can say infront that they are not physically fit. Sehwag is the highlighted case, he was not even recovered from injury and went to UK.

Another reason is IPL, flooded with the money, most of the players play against each other, ego clashes, hence national team approach did not evident in world cup, which was the main strength in last world cup winning.

Third is MS Dhoni's over confidence. Should not try out the other solution when you are in crucial stage. Always go for proved solution.

Sorry yash, u r completely out of sync in wht i mean to say. Its like u r ok with these people having fun day & night but u wouldnt like them to shed their sweat on the ground practising. Thts the reason we ve only 1 tendulkar & others are just copycats desperately seeking limelight. I m open in my view of supporting australia bcoz i like their professionalism and not being cutie pie to any tom & harry. Players need to feel responsible for their being in the team and their job is to play. They r not small kids who have to be constantly looked after. I feel management had done enough.

I think its the player's mistake who didnt show the team spirit and the winning attitude on the field. The hunger for victory was never seen throughout the series it just looked as if they were playing the game for the sake of playing as they are bound by the BCCI code of conduct.

And even the blunders made by Dhoni in his decision throughout the series in bowling changes as well as batting order resulted in a defeat for us in all important matches. The only 2 matches we won was against Ireland and Bangladesh this shows the real calibre of our team. And also Dhoni's poor perfromance with bat as well as gloves continues. Instead he should rework on his basics of wicket keeping like a wicket keeper should always collect the ball behind the stumps so that he gets a chance to make the batsman runout easily where a Dhoni alwasy collects the ball in front of the wicket and takes a longer time to hit the bails. So I think instead of blaming the whole team Dhoni is majorly responsible for the India's defeat along with the poor performance of the team as a unit.

More than anything, our team lacked LEADERSHIP completely. MSD seemed very off colour and looked like he didnt know what he was doing. He has lost the sting himself and hence we could not see him coming to terms with his batting!

Even players like Rohit Sharma and Raina got out cheaply where normally their wicket is considered to be a prize wicket!!

Leadership and tactics that is where we lost!

Why make a scapegoat of an organisation who doesnt even charge the players for their Sponsorship or endorsement deals?? I would say that all our players have with their eyes open walked into the itinerary to play their game. Who has forced them?? No one. So lets not make a monkey out of oursleves at all. Agree to the fact that it is our players who are themselves to blame and the fact that our leader lacked the sting completely!

Mind you guys, if Indians were slogging in IPL so did other players of other countries, so why such soft corner for your dear players. Look at westindies, southafrica, srilankan players, most of them played for their country, then joined the IPL league & continued their way into T20WC. So plz giving benefit of doubt to players is pure biased. If the players are tired or exhausted (well they don’t seem like it, when they are partying hard) they can themselves opt out or inform the management. Whts stopping them. It needs a gutsy Kumble who even knocked out can come on the field & strike the opposition out. I feel management should be more rigorous on these players who are so cozy cushioned by everyone(media, fans). And by the way making a contract to play for your country needs every ounce of patriotism inside to work hard, without thinking abt the result but atleast they should try(like the Irelanders). And obviously this is called professionalism. Its like a job for them and any one who is not doing their job to the best needs to be ousted.

Whts management got to do with how players play on the field. The players who got selected were based on IPL performance & were to some point promising. But it seems once these guys get a bigger platform & some praise for their performance they start showing overconfident traits, which ultimately leads to their downfall. Their lookout is more on appearance & style factor than performance.

I feel Indian bowlers gave a good performance but the batsmen disappointed everybody with Yuvraj Singh  to Gautam Gambhir. I feel it was the mistake of the players who failed on the crucial time
