I think this is where most of them may make a mistake by giving importance to clients rather than the team.As at the time of recession there are more chances of loosing focus which should be avoided. It is the team which will get you more clients and ultimately more business.........so better spend more time with you team rather than clients!!!

I would like to support on spending time with the client to get more business and keep the team occupied wih work.In the time of recession people think twice before shifting to the new job as they think that they have proved themsleves in the comapny they are working for and if they switch to a new company they will have to start from scratch.

I agreed with your comments because now a days the word recession is like a fashion word. Most of the companies are taking advantage of this word. But in my hotel I am very strict on my product rates. And till now I am doing better than last year.

I'll suggest five things to be best handled

1) People working in your company.

2) Working Capital

3) Growth & Productivity

4) IT Enabling

5) Patience..

Normally, its seen while SUCCESS of company :- CEO/MD says " Its your company guys" and Company fails then CEO/MD says "Its My Company" and start downsizing there headcounts. That should never happen - change of words and percetion. It make employee dishonest and corrupt. And in future person who had worked hard and join any other company either never work as hard he used to or become corrupt.

Nice topic.I feel one has to manage team first as this is the team only who is in direct contact with clients, if team is motivated perfectly than it will automatically try to make best relations with the clients .So,CEO,Mnagers or Directors should motivate and encourage their team first .

Great topic Nagraj......

My take: I agree that we have to spend time with clients but more importantly we need to weed off least wanted clients such that team can focus on others & bring more business. So one should evaluate how to cut costs, and perhaps the first place to look is finding the resource sink that’s taking up the organizations time, resources – and willpower and focus on the higher value clients.

When you hold your business with you or if you have very good relationship with clients, you will get continous business from them. If you are able to get more buisness you will tend to keep your team with you because fear of loosing job will make members to quit. When you have continous business you will able to build or hold your team and generate revenue for growth to your organisation.
