Dear Friends,I have observed this many times, that when we went to meet any Manager to his office after an appointment, we have to wait for his personal call to get over. When we reached at the place they’ll ask us to wait out, we wait at the reception area, then he calls us inside and after a little start of professional conversation he gets the call. He starts having a conversation on that particular call rather he’ll not ask that caller to call after sometime. We have to see him and he will busy with his personal chats.

After say a long-long time of 15 to 17 mins. He ends-up his call and then we have to start from the beginning. Again after a talk he gets the call and he start the same thing. Don’t you think that it’s wastage of time? Even that Manager belongs from our clientele due to that as well we can’t get-up and get-off or can’t say anything to him.

Does anybody have any professional way to make him understand the value to our time not of his time? Does anybody have any trick of making him realize the importance of person & his job/profile? Does anybody have any idea of making him understand that he is a manner-less guy? If, YES then please do share with us so that it can help us to come out from this INSULTING kind of meeting, this particular problem are occurring to most of the sales & marketing guys. Who gets an appointment after lots of efforts.

I am not facing this kind of problem as I am into HR profile but I have observe this ample times, so thought let to share my observation and get good ideas to reduce this INSULTING behavior.

Advise: Meet your management and tell them about a mobile/phone call policy which you would like to have in this company and what benefits it is going to make for the company; say-  all calls made from office numbers are going to be barged. Personal calls made more than 30 mins from office lines will be treated as non-compliance which will affect individual's promotion, hike, or even leads to termination.

Once your management have your ideas, they will know indirectly where are you focusing on!!

And this will give you more peace and happiness.

This might help you. I have been through such occassions a number of times and I have done any of the following depending on my proximity to the client

a) Even my phone rings in a meeting with the client. I cut the call indicating subtly that the meeting is important and I expect the same from him.

b) When there are occassions that the client receives the calls and is on chat for a longer time, I call back the missed calls on my phone and thereby save my time. Usually clients have not attended phone calls in the meeting after this response.

c) When calls are persistent between meetings I have bluntly told them that I would meet them later when they would be free from such disturbances and taken commitment from them to meet again for which they have to oblige. And I find that after this success rate of the meetings have gone up in the second meet.

I think next time when you visit this client/manager you should ask any of your friends or colleague to call you when you are with him and at that point of a time you purposely take his permission to pick the call and tell him that it is a personal call.

In this way you would make him feel guilty that he doesn't even have the courtesy to do the same with you.

Hi ... a funny position narated here .. !! Personal call disturbing 'personnels' ? Is s/he a "professional manager" .. ? Enquire : from which school / college. This should not happen.

Trick : Come out of his/her cabin en mass : tell him/her to call U inside after talks are over.
