I thought of creating this debate when I gone through the following article and for me it is always better to look for    simple solutions

One of the most memorable case studies on Japanese management was the case of the empty soapbox, which happened in one of Japan's biggest
cosmetics companies.  The company received a complaint that a consumer
had bought a soapbox that was empty.  Immediately the authorities
isolated the problem to the assembly line, which transported all the
packaged boxes of soap to the delivery department.  For some reason,
one soapbox went through the assembly line empty.  Management asked its engineers to solve the problem.  Post-haste, the engineers worked hard
to devise an X-ray machine with high-resolution monitors manned by two
people to watch all the soapboxes that passed through the line to make
sure they were not empty.  No doubt, they worked hard and they worked
fast but they spent a Whoopee amount to do so.

But when a rank-and-file employee in a small company was posed with
the same problem, he did not get into complications of X-rays, etc.,
but instead came out with another solution. He bought a strong
industrial electric fan and pointed it at the assembly line. He
switched the fan on, and as each soapbox passed the fan, it simply
blew the empty boxes out of the line.

Thanks for the referrral Mr.Manoj Kumar.

I would like to take this side and this is because, without knowing the nature of problem one could not give solutions.Hence the problems experienced make the people to think to seek a proper answer for any issues. Without knowing the central issue of any problem that emerged, it would be very difficult to give any way out. There are several alternatives to resolve the issues, but one has to select the best alternative which should really give a way out to the central issues. Therefore I would like to focus first on the nature of problems emanated in order to have the real solutions.

better to focus on solution rather than problems yes sometimes the problem itself has solution but maximum times it is solution.

It seems to be good debate...I will focus my view in to solutions, once we find a solution, for anything.there is problem in that..

One has to keep the broad picture in mind and focus on the cause of the problem to begin with. As  you get closer and closer to implementing the solution, the focus shifts more and more to the solution. The earlier effort in focusing on the CAUSE of the problem helps formulate a solution that will prevent recurrence.

Yes Manoj the problems are a part of life and it should be sorted out in most efficient way. You have quoted the example. It is how one approach to the problem and solve it that what it matters.

Really good one Manoj, Its always simple solutions that work for that matter, and it's us who make things a little complicated and always dwelve on problems rather than finding simple solutions like this, people go for the x-ray machine and the two guys to monitor it an extra burden....really nice one.

Thanks for the referral Mr Manoj,

We all tend to look at the problem, and in doing it make it more complicated, where as the solution can be very simple. You have given a very good example how a complex problem can get an easy solution just by simple thinking.

Gud one Manoj n thanks for inviting me.

It is normal human tendency to focus on the problem rather than the solution for it.  There is a story on this by Osho...He says - The man got up in the morning and did not find his bed slippers at their proper place.  He got irritated and went bare footed to the bathroom.  The tiles were cold and it irrtitated him even more.  He was thinking of the slippers not in their place and started to shave.  He got a cut on the chin and it irritated him even more.  He goes with the same irritated mind, dresses up and goes to the breakfast table, still thinking of the slippers.  Children were making noise and he shouts at them, still thinking of the slippers which were not in place.  He shouts at his wife for supporting the children and walks off not having breakfast.  He starts his car and drives to office.  All along the way, he was still thinking of the missing slippers.  He does'nt see the traffic light and meets with an accident and got admitted to the hospital.  Is all this because of slippers not in place.  Is it not too costly. Problems are very miniscule and the humanbeing is large.  Over a period of time the human thinks more about the problem and not the solution.  So, the problem keeps on growing bigger and bigger and one day the human finds himself very small in front of the problem.  It is due to various factors like negligence, fear to attack it and callousness sometimes.

Here, i would call "problems" as "situations" in life.  Life without "situations" - not possible.  Then, why worry about them.  Face them head high and chest up.  When you really look into the eye of the "situation", you will understand the modus operandi.  We tend to blow them up and look it through a magnifying glass.

Everybodys' "situation" is biggest.  But, think of all the "situations" around you adn you will find your "situation" to be very small.  Life is to stand there and win it over.  I always remember this dialogue from the film Border, when one soldier says to Major - "saab, kuch bhi ho jaaye, hum post nahin chodenge.  hum aakhri goli tak ladenge, par wapas nahin jaayenge"

What we have to do - is to face the problem and find a solution for the same.  "Solutions" are always available around you, only thing is that one has to search for the same.  Seek the help of near and dear ones if you cannot face it alone.  There are always willing people to do it.  Only go to them with a genuine heart and last but not the least belief in God is the greatest strength one gains to face "situations".

We have to focus into Problem we have to take a Forward Approach, good analysis and good understability of the problem will lead us to solution. -first collect the whole data given into problem. -second look for a suitable method to get the desired result -third, if no such method is found then try to find out combination of method which can solve a problem. -apply data and GET THE RESULTS.

Problems first before proceeding towards Solutions. No logic to apply and no synthesis identity the causes which to be solved rather making Solutions on Solutions.

Solutions are to resolve problems. Hence to concentrate to avoid problems itself is a solution. It is a solution for another.

Well.... I do find myself with this side of the problem.

A solution is an invention for any individual or group followed by the problem encountered by the concerned. Unless the problem is identified there is no question of solution.

Pro-active initiative can be introduced to avoid any possible problem. However, since the problem is unforeseen the solution can't be awaiting readily. We have to have preparation to get out of the trouble once we face it.

I would say a professional should work to eradicate or remove or find a solution to the problem.

Rushing to solution using this time approach, may most certainly bring quick results yet problem may crop up again.

Even whence immediate solution is essential need of the hour not to loose sight over the problem to save for future. Hope some of you would agree.....

Thanks for invite Manoj, as for the example visiting the problem would provide similar results.

Problem in way provides a chance to open doors for fresh air, so without problem, a solution may never be sought for.

Manoj.... its a good debate .... I know I am at wrong side .... but it is true

Problem is the first phase which we encounter ... by analysing the problem we able to have solution and/or multiple solution ... based on criticality we select the appropriate solution and try out .... So problem is important than solution ...

So we should focus on the problem first ... it may be a cause of clashes or negative thinking ..... without darkness how we can estimate how much illuminai light is required...

Unless we know the problem domain correctly, we cannot arrive at the answers to the solution domain. Hence, we should first focus on knowing the exact nature of the problem in the problem domain and then arrive at the solution subsequently......

I opted Problems because my answer is related to Problems....for anyone and everyone problems try to overcome the smooth life....best way to come out is try to become bigger than the problem so that u can cut it in pieces and solve it in steps...this will lead to successful exit from it.

Thanks for the referral
