I have seen in my pesonal life and studied about the strategy like "keep the people who work for you unbalanced". When I have read the book written by Lee Iaococca, I came to know that the strategy is first developed in US and later followed by all. Again, when I have recently studied about the latest advancements, I found that it is changing, but, in a slow pace. What I strongly feel that it is an unethical practice and business strategy and the management is not going to gain anything with this strategy. When the management keep the people unbalanced, the employee will never believe the employer and as such he will be having alternatives and alternative thoughts and with that the management loose a good employee. Whats wrong if an employee is free when he is ahead of the goals and perfect in his job. Management is not supposed to look at the personal issues of the employee in order to restrict him or opress him and it will not workout at all in the present day scenario where opportunities are plenty. But, still, many follows this strategy whether knowingly or unknowingly and it needs change as it is not good for the growth of the management and the employee as it wastes lot of time. Many great people and eminent on management talked about this.

I strongly feel that this strategy needs to be changed, the management should concentrate on having a good michine like system which works irrespective of one's coming and going out. This will be the good strategy as I feel.

I strongly feel that this strategy needs a change and its not useful either for the management or the employee. In the course of concentrating on this strategy, both the management and the employee will be loosing precious time which we can't venture in this rapidly growing and highly competitive world.

I'd like to support this thinking cause if you think there are many opportunes then perhaps the management has a lot of other probable manpower as well. So if they are doing something to increase the production and thereby motivating their employees to work more efficiently there is nothing wrong.

Yes, anything that is detrimental to a human being needs change. I haven't read in any management books that this practice should be propagated. And even if it is, then we don't need no capitalism. Human rights can't be compared to profits. Industries should realise that a human resource is more precious than the stock ticker valuation of the company. This is basic common sense.

I do agree with all HR folks who have supported his arguments. I want to look this situation from different angle. While deciding on whether it should be changed or its inherent in mgmt stage, are we considering all other related imp factors NIL? Which are actually the originators of such strategies to get adopted? For ex: what stage the org is in, what’s the size, what the mission, and goal etc. to name a few...

The above does mean that I am in favor of such strategies which are ethically wrong, but just to explore the other side of the coin..

Yes I believe that in this age of employee empowerment, such conservative workplace ethics should go for overhauling.

I totally agree with Durgarao, due to globalization employee also knows tthere values.hence by this strategy employer surely going to miss good employee since this employee because of their qualities will preferably leave organisation in which they are working.

Also Mr Suhas motivating someone to achieve something is good but there are some limits if you cross that somewhere you are going to loose something.

Hi

“Being Unbalanced Can Make You More Productive” in certain cases.

Sometimes you need to become unbalanced in order to get things done. If you’re working on a book, launching a business or trying to overhaul some part of your life, you can probably relate

Embrace imbalance

Be incredibly flaky

Disappear

Stop caring

Triage ruthlessly

Disconnect

Drop out

But these tools can be seriously valuable when working on a big project that really requires being hyper-focused.
