When you apply for a job , as a fresher , any prospective employer will look at the following points : 1. Is there anything special about you ? This can be any special qualities , special qualifications or special skills e.g. you have obtained prizes in debating , dramatics , or any other extra-curricular competitions ; you have taken the trouble to learn other languages , or you have participated in social activities such as student unions , Red Cross / Rotary Club events , environmental activism events , science fairs , ... or you have interested yourself in acquiring skills in disaster management , hospitality management ,... It can even be having off-beat hobbies such as bungee jumping ! Anything that marks you out as a personality rather than just another candidate. 2. Have you achieved anything in your life so far ? This can take the form of prizes won , papers presented at conferences , recognition obtained from public societies ,... So , first and foremost , you need to see if your CV differentiates you from all the other candidates ; in this , an Indian or an International MBA or any other qualification matters very little. It is you and you alone who have to sell yourself ; gone are the days when your degree from a reputed institute automatically qualified you for consideration by employers. Consider the number of Americans from the Ivy League universities who are unemployed ; how can an Indian imagine that he will be considered only on the basis of his degree ? When multi-national corporations can take Indian MBAs during campus placement , there is no reason to consider an Indian MBA an inferior one. The only reason to consider an International MBA is the exposure it gives you to teachers and students of other nationalities.

India has definitely become a nation with lots of potential and scope for economic growth. But, except for the IIM's and a hand few of B-schools, our MBA Institutions have not grown upto the mark. Thousands of people opting for foreign universities for MBA has been a growing trend. MBA should be made to choose out of deliberate thought & care, not just a fashion.

Haris, you are wrong MBA will help you to learn the basics which you will be applying in the workplace. And a MBA degree alone does not matter, you can get it even by paying money. So where you do your MBA matter a lot friend..... :)

Indian MBA or International MBA doesnt matter, what matters is an MBA degree. Sarika doing an MBA you will never learn the concepts and tactics unless you are in the field after doing MBA.... So chill

Sarika, I largely agree to your statement. What actually matters is where do you want to work? If I have a Indian MBA, it hold great value in the Indian market. However, an International MBA is ranked higher in other big markets. India still has lot of catching up to do. P.S: IIM is not even in top 100!!
