Different persons have different ways of motivating themselves.....but for most professionals its the green paper (sometimes comes wrapped in a brown envelope)

If we go through Maslow's motivational hierarchy or Herzberg's hygiene and motivating theory, we find that there are various motivating factors. They starts from lower level needs as physiological, security & social and ends with higher level needs like self esteem and self actualization (Maslow). So we can not say that any one thing is motivating for all. It changes with age and mental status of the person, and accordingly we should design our HR policies for best results. But most of our govt organizations are unable to understand that, which increases corruption and dis-satisfaction.

Money is the biggest motivating factor for a person like me but i also agree with Manish that motivating factors varies at different stages of your life and career. But by the time you come of age to those stages it is assumed that you have sufficient money to lead your life and perform your duties thats how it can vary. People who have struggled over the years will consider money as the most important motivation. Its power is such that it motivates a 5 year child to a 65 year retired person.

Motivating factors depends on individual personalities, their life style, foot steps of their god father, etc but majority of them keep an ambition to grow in terms of money as it has not become the need but necessity for survival and to gain a position in the todays society so every employee would get motivated by proper compensation

I am not sure whether you confine your quiery to just work place or life in general. In life one has the choice of taking either ther routes of 1)subline or 2) erotica. It depends on how mentaly dispostioned one is, if one is stable one chooses the sublime route otherwise the other. Rational existence combined with meaningful activities is what stable people choose as lives philosophy. Mixed with dispostions like 'libido, one tend to fantasise and gets into events are realities forming around us.

TRUST. There should be trust in the 360 degrees that the employee works. Trusted by his superiors, peers and subordinates. Then and then only can he deliver superlative performance

For institutions like Finance, Education, Medicine and for Business house Jewelery, Caterings etc, Trust is valued & more often, patronized. Whereas, for individual Out-puts, higher earning is the motive factor. Thanks for Referral Ms. Bindu narayan & Pratik Hazra
