1. Norton Scan the system fully each and every file. but Macafee did not scan fully for each file.

I would like to mention some positive points about McAfee Antivirus.

1. Certified by ICSA, and AV-Test.org reports 100 percent detection.

2. Easy scheduling. Blocks unknown e-mail worms.

3. Scans inbound e-mail, outbound e-mail, and IM attachments and provides detailed information on individual viruses and worldwide virus trends.

4. Has detailed virus database and world map.


But specific areas of improvement for this antivirus include better handling of large e-mail attachments and blocking of what McAfee calls potentially unwanted programs-what others might call spyware.

I would definitely agree with sanjeev on his point. Moreover Norton firewall does a very good job of hiding your PC from malicious attacks. And it offers customisable control over which applications can access the web.  so in my view norton antivirus is better than macafee.

It is always advisable to understand what we are comparing: we cannot compare Symantec's Norton antivirus with McAfee's TOPS and similarly we cannot compare McAfee Av with Symantec Endpoint Protection.

their functianality levels are different.

Assuming it is a fair comparision between ONLY ANTIVIRUS features and not the Firewall or IPS i would rate McAfee.

1] Lighter on system as compared to Symantec's Norton AV

2] Support from McAfee is far better than Norton.
