Well, I am not the supporte of Merely book knowledge but in my thinking to best utilize the practical knowledge and to be efficient in that one must go through the book knowledge first, because it is the only way that will make us enable to take a good advantage of practical knowledge. For instance, if we will pick up a illiterate person for a work and a person with good theoratical knowledge about that subject, the result of tht experiment will make it clear that in order to have a good practical knowledge of any subject we must have gone through the theoratical knowledge of that subject. However, it is the practical knowledge in the last which matters more for self-growth.

There is no substitute for a good book, well what is a book? It is a compilation of ideas, theories even a guide to a subject. The concept of b ook has changed over times, the most modern being e-books/videos where practical demonstrations can be self-studied. However the problem is with the age of advertisement, right kinds of books and study materials need to be searched well.

So many complain about book knowledge for two reasons. The main reason is theories and practical directions in books are there because they were picked up from actual work environments as the empirical basis for training skilled labor. It is done with the assumption that the environment is 'cetris paribus' meaning what is expected of the environment for what is writen in the book is present and available as standard, which include rational commercial environment for free market economics to work if we take macroeconomic text books or business books as example. Our environment hasn't reache that level of standard for these text book generate skills to work yet because of lack of planned economic environment for a paricular objective like the 'free market welfare'. The second minor reason may be since we lack welfare academic campuses students pick up the habit of learning by heart not assimilating the practical philosophy of what they are trained for. Also the Indian academia lacks practical projects along with class room lectures for lack of proper endowment and infrastructure like state of the art libraries, computer rooms, software availability etc; to practical projects, even energy efficient food in hostels is a problem for student to have the dexterity to concentrate long hours in conginative build of his brains fuculties, which also results in 'short attention span' for our students. So once the economy gets more wealthy these things will follow like developed nations academis churns out graduates who can start work from the word go, from their training in the academia alone.

u can achieve practical knowledge only when u have learnt basics from book. but i think ur options is wrong.it should be 1.Book knowledge with self study and 2.Practical knowledge under gidance. because it is too difficult to get practical knowledge from self stdy.

Book knowledge under guidance and with practical knowledge of it is what i feel is the good way to understand. I believe unless you apply ur bookish know into practical form it is of no use.

Practical knowledge is consequential to book knowledge let me rephrase it as academic training under supervision. Cognition is developed in ones hipocampus without which practical training will be useless. Ones brain if cannot transit through the neurons already in place what happens in work place will be like greek and latin to the beholder. Academia incorporate the philosophy and meaning of ones work when this is not visible in practical training.

practical knowledge is must ...if you have book knowledge but not able to utilize your skill in a proper way then your book knowledge has no meaning....we read books for gaining knowledge but if we can't able to use that knowledge then all study has no use .....so in the last our practical knowledge will required... you prepared... by book under guidance or by self study ...it dose'nt matter in the last.....

Both are necessary under true guidance. Only practical study with guidance does not give you cleat understanding of concept and only bookish knowledge with lots of concept does not make sense unless and until if you don't apply under the good guidance.

Practical knowledge has its own dimension of understanding but as far as books are concerned it helps a lot at the initial stage but later on we have to be practical with every problem...

Well there is not the third Column So i am writing in this column. i think that knowledge is necessary whatever be the source there can be many situations where book knowledge can be beneficial and there can be situations where practical knowledge can be beneficial. Just try to learn everything from everywhere.

In my view, both the terms are contradictory to each other because both practical knowledge and book knowledge should be undertaken under a guidance. One can't apply practical knowledge until and unless he/she is well read about the topic and can't apply the same practically until guided by someone who has got expertise in that field. Self study fulfills a part of practical knowledge and book knowledge. Guidance by an expert fulfills the remaining. In such a case, 'Book Knowledge and Practical Knowledge' both are better when carried out 'with self study and under guidance'.

Practical knowledge is slways better but combined with self study - it becomes a little dicey. It depends on each individual and their capacity at self study. I would rephrase the whole idea and mention it as "practical knowledge under guidance". There are some who cannot interpret books on their own and hence the above

Practical Knowledge always helps you to understand what have you already get from the books. If you a professional and you have practical knowledge i think you will better understand the concept of the books. Practical knowlege and self study is best because you regularly implent all the knowledge into your work.

If I am bound to choose amongst the the given options then I will choose this side. But actually book knowledge (self or under guidance) for domain knowledge and then practical knowledge under guidance would be the best combination.

Practical knowledge leads to applying of thoughts what we learn from book. Book reading is essential but to an extent. One should always try to apply tje theories practically. Practical knowledge gives scope for thoughts and self learning and it's worth!!!

For learning the fundamendals "yes" book should help, but the intrepretation and conceptualisation of the learning and applying the same to the context reflects the success of the individual. The process of conceptualisation and intrepretation is thoroughly supported by an indivdual's practical knowledge and his depth of self study.

Real success is finding your lifework in the work that you love. Said by David McCullough so I strongly believe in Practical knowledge is good and it comes when you learn by life's work. According to my opinion , it is very important to gain knowledge by an empirical way. Even the most experienced specialists make mistakes, and it is better to try to find the information by yourself as long as it is possible.
