It actually depends on your product and the budget that you have. Ideally the latter can drive traffic to your internet message and hence both should be used for effective results. But both the mediums being new, one needs to exercise caution and not jump and put all the advertising rupee in either of the mediums.

Marketing through social networking websites. I thing today world is much more tech savy. There are many websites like Facebook, myspace, twitter, hikut which are now an advertising heaven as well. Main reason for sucess of online marketing is heavy vistor's traffic which is the best source of product awareness and promotion.

Product and Target Segment is the KEYWORD for the success of any marketing campaign. Keeping in mind the NDNC rules kicking in, Mobile Marketing has become a very tuff game. Besides I think that Mobile marketing in India is mainly text (SMS) and thus works mainly as a reminder medium. i.e. it works great if the person has a requirement and views the SMS. Email has a better retention value than an SMS for sure as one can get back to the inbox and view it anytime. So Email Marketing considering the NDNC rule kicking in and it being graphical in nature, has an upper hand. SMS marketing having a better reach in India because of the number of mobile users is the only point that would make it a winner.

it depends on both .. Both type ,email-& mobile marketting involves merits and demerits. In email marketting you have full detailsof products, goods, and facilities you want to use . it is cost effective also ,, But there are some demerits that involve possibilities of it going into spam . In mobile marketting ,it is fast accessible but contains less info than emal markeeting ... so it depends ... Now we have to look to the future that which one is going to lead another////

Mobile marketing effects only when the message is sent regularly to the suspect. Also it is a random method of reaching the customer. Regards, Anna George. Web Analyst. Nichepro Technologies. Bangalore. http://www.nichesuite.com

It's all depends upon the marketing technique that used to attract the customers. Both marketing method has its own merits and demerits In connection with its message contents and reach. Today's business world has the dominant role of e-mails. However directly meeting the target customers is the best way of marketing where we are able to know the customers requirements immediately on the spot and gives better inter-action with the customers to build the close contacts & relationship. After knowing the customers exactly, the e-mails help a lot and the messages through mobile will not be more effective in view of its restricted message or short form of sending messages. The response from the customers may not be knowing immediately through both marketing of e-mails and mobile phones. To be more effective, it would be better to meet the customers directly. Mobile marketing can also be related to directly meeting the customer base. Thanks for the referral Ms.Purvi Ghose.

I agree with Ms Purvi Ghosh. Yes it depends on the target audiance. I f you r going to target the business class then E-mail marketing is the prefered way, but if the target audiance is the mass market then mobile marketing is the prefered way. For the number game only 0.1% or less Indian use Internet & more than 40%(I am not sure about the number) Indian use Mobile.....so its better to approach the mass market through mobile for mass marketing through digital marketing

In India, internet infrastructure is not very developed...almost absent in villages. Even if email is available...how can marketing campaign reach those who cannot read! Mobile subscribers are many times more than internet users...so to reach a large part of consumers, mobile marketing is must. I am saying this for mass market products..which are used by common people.

I guess both are difficult but stil it depends. Mobile marketing won't show much of details but a crisp sms will draw the right people. In case of email there are possibilities of it going into spam and people not even putting an effort into reading it, because they can mark and delete it .

email marketing is good but mostly it goes into spam. while mobile marketing is booming now a days.Mobile is used increasingly as a productivity tool as well as a source of entertainment. When consumers are waiting for a train or standing in line somewhere, they will look to mobile as a source of engagement and entertainment.Mobile phones connect us to our worlds with a reach well beyond wireline phones and even the Internet. Consumers are connected via voice, SMS, the mobile Web and applications. The mobile phone is being used to manage our lives with banking, GPS, scheduling, games, and even fantasy sports management functionality now available. Customizing a handset with icon-based links to mobile sites, interesting applications, videos and of course unique ringtones has gone mainstream. Make your mobile strategy easy to access and more importantly, relevant and personal.Give in Order to Receive: Offer an incentive such as access to relevant information (weather, news alerts, local event information, etc.), mobile content or even a coupon to increase take rates and consumer participation. The wonderful world of mobile marketing can present a wealth of new opportunities for direct marketers – especially if they’ve become numb to the 2% or less response rates on typical email marketing campaigns. And because mobile marketing is quickly becoming the “next big thing” for businesses across the country, it’s more important than ever to take note of what has worked, and not worked, in the past decade with email marketing.
