70% of the population of India is dependent on agriculture, but the rightful importance is not being given to the farmer and agriculture, duplicate seeds, duplicate fertilizers, duplicate pesticides and lack of proper support price and infrastructure for marketing the produce are in place causing death of farmers. Government should take steps for all of these, but governments are concentrating on IT development more.

Agriculture for sure -- the increasing inflation is the outcome of not giving enough importance to it. IT is as it is getting its due importance all thanks to the immense opportunity that the MNC's are giving, outsourcing done by developed countries as well as cost cutting all the corporates are doing world wide. Food Inflation can be only controlled by increasing the production and then aligning the policies with it.

Naturally, our backbone is Agri. Where is the doubt in that. But, it does not mean that IT is nowhere to them. I hope you heard of SAZIWALAH story here in too step. An IIM topper , using IT to invigorate Agri-product through mobile refrigeration unit / purchase through credit cards system. Play your technique to revitalize the Agri-zone.

I am neither supporting IT nor agriculture. Both need proper development. India has provided enough corporate tax rebate to IT industry. Noe, its high time for our IT proffesional to show their efficiency without Govt. incentives as the world now knows that we have world class software engineers who can perform best anywhere in the world. We provide certain benefits to farmers like free electricity for irrigation etc. But, someone must be appointed to moniter their efficiency.WE should know which farmer is really in need of money or other support. We have the best possible physiological conditions for many crops. All we need is employment of technology which could improvise productivity. There are many agricultural universities in India. These universities must be supported to work with farmers and help them. Our agricultural scientists must be recognised and paid well for performing this task. By doing so we can bring sustainability. We must connect all the farmers with e-choupal in order to know their specific requirements.
