I would go with comm skills and soft skills first, because as u go to attend some interview to fetch a job, interviewer do not know who you are, and there u r expected to project yourself in such a way that u r the only suitable person for that particular job. This is possible through ur presentation & communication skills first then ur technical & programming skills come.

YES! I agree for getting into a job this is adequate but not when it comes to performing on the job after getting in. For a start, communication & soft skills forms only as a small portion of the LIFE SKILLS required for a CAREER. Most of the arguments are good from a job perspective but considering the need for CAREER ORIENTATION for the current generation, we need to look at a holistic inculcation of Personal Effectiveness, Academic & Workplace skills through hands-on training. Each of these three competencies have multiple skill requirements, which may include life-long learning/initiative for personal effectiveness competency, reading/writing/listening skills for academic competency and most importantly the change in the pyche of those seeking for an opening in any industry to move from competing with everyone on every matter to being part of a team i.e. teamwork with regard to workplace competency.

Having only technical skills and programming skills, the scope would be confined to that particular area. If you have good communication skills and softskills, you can win anywhere. The scope of gaining is wider here.

I strongly believe that communication skills & soft skill will help to get a job. If someone is having with miniumum marks with good comm skills can get a job rather than with distinction with no comm skills.

It would vary from one job content to another. If my job involves software development major emphasis is given on technical skills where as if its a sales job it completely falls on the communication skills. But overall if someone asks me to select something specific form the two I would definitely go for communication :)

Irrespective of your technical skills and acumen, you need communication and soft skills to progress in your career. Otherwise you must be so brilliant in your field and your technical skills should be unmatched, then communication skills are not required as people would flock to you anyway.

without second thoughts its obvious that communication skills is most important. especially these days where the only mantra is "survival of the best" with out proper soft skills one can not ensure his survival in the market with good convincing skills and negotiation tactics. more over one can be trained in technical and programming skills but irrespective of "n" number of trials one can not be trained in communication & soft skills. individuals can be groomed only on certain areas but over all presentability should be by default in the individual hence proving the point that communication skills are more important ! cheers !

I think that in getting job communication skills will help you more than technical skills but it would not help you out in future because they also want skilled person and your work tells that you are least in the technical and you will be thrown out in the private sector specially.

Your technical skills count only 25% and 75% what the corporates want you to have is "survival skills" or "softskills"! If you lack that, you may find some difficulty in placement.

In India, most skill training academies, which mushroomed during the past decade and later disappeared, have tried to bridge the gaps in academic training and industry skill requirements. The basic premise of such training programmes have been that job-seekers lack soft-skills and that they already possess the needed technical skills, but this was the fatal assumption, which either marginalized or made such initiatives fail. I know, we’re not discussing about training institutes but the point I’m trying to make is that the induction-training/pre-induction learning has to be based on a competency model, which seamlessly integrate both technical skills with a emphasize on application orientation and life skills providing career orientation.

Both are equal important subject to job. if its "IT" then off course technical is more important.on the other hand if you talk about marketing(sales),den communication is the main key to success. why both is important bcos, if u hv good communication skills but u r poor in subject, den wht u will deliver?? & if ur subjective(tech & prog)knowledge is good but u r poor in term of communication, den u cant express your view..
