Bonus payment or monitory gain is good but it remains only for a very short period of time whereas PROMOTION as a recognition of his good job becomes his lifetime property. Therefore PROMOTION is always better.

In this Smart world experience does not mean he/she is intelligent. People can start providing solutions using their innovative thoughts where years of experience is not a barrier for the same, also it should not mean that only if your experience is high you should be validated for promotion. there should be some sort of tool/ evaluation method imposed in this appraisal flow.

i think promotion is the best idea... but sometime bonus payment is also important because all the you can not give promotion to every one....but appreciation is necessary so bonus payment also is important.

Performance appraisal is one of the factors to promote somebody. For promotion consideration, years in that grade,educational qualifications etc is considered, therefore, bonus payment or double increments could be thought of.
