Energize Employees There is ample research to show people are more motivated by recognition than money. Despite this "it is rare that a business has a systematic process for thanking staff let alone some other accomplishment above and beyond. Simple fact many of the coming X and Y generation won’t put up with coercion and fear tactics to keep a job. They will seek out work places that are positive, productive, able to learn new skills and enjoyable. In short Employers of choice or “Good Boss”™ environment.

I believe that if an employee is mentally satisfied then monetary satisfaction comes second to him. Money is not everything but it is required for everything. If you are happy then you can give your 100% & can make money follow you rather than you following it.

Though We need both in congruent. But its not possible in today's world. Monetary satisfaction is the best satisfaction to the employee practically speaking. We can guarantee the satisfaction for employee with 15-20 lacs/year but not guarantee mental satisfaction with it.

Everyone forgot the basic Motivational theories?? Maslow says, Physiological, safety, social esteem and self actualization. So the answer mainly depends on the person's level in the Maslow's heirarchy. If he is in a starting position, he largely requires his physical needs and safety needs, which require Money and money only. Nothing can replace money unless given in kind. So for his existence, his safety, his family's existence depends on the remuneration he gets. So monetary rewards largely satisfies such a person. But considering a person who has got 20 or 30 yrs exp, he'll be in esteem need or a self actualisation need. Accordingly the rule changes.

In almost all the cases, money matters in the initial stages of employment.  A  little later, we talk of  job satisfaction/mental satisfaction.  However, upto a point only this choice haunts. In fact, both are complementary and every body needs BOTH.

First mental satisfaction and then little bit monetary benefits to keep the motivation and drive to work.Sheer mental satisfaction will not motivate and it would become a comfort zone.
