A normal training is an important 2 way communication training platform.

However, before debating on Normal / e Training, why dont we think that how would an Organization decide the training required for its employees.

Training Need Identification (TNI) is based on 3 aspects

1. Individual Training needs

2. Organizational Training needs

3. Strategic Training need

Individual Training need is sourced from the Performanace management appraisals, Org. Training needs are the requirements that the Org. craves for (eg. Continual Improvement, ISO, Business Excellence, Operational Excellence), whereas Strategic Training needs emanate from the Long & Short term strategies of the Organization.

Individual Training needs could be catered through e Learning, some strategic Training needs could be catered through e Learning

However Organizational Need based training & most of the Strategic need based Training is most effective when conducted in the Normal mode (physical presence in a class room with a two way interaction) imagine how would you impart a effective training like Achievement Motivation or Creativity through e Learning.

Normal Training brings employees of various segments together & a successful training would create abundant knowledge transfer & positive vibes amongst the participants.

Again the type of industry also has a great bearing on the type of Training. an IT org, could do away with the e-learning approach, whereas for a Manufacturing Org. Normal training would be the raison-de'-eitre.

E-training is required today in the organizations as today the world of business is pacing with time and every day a new technological innovation is made hence to survive in such a complex competitive marketing scenario employee must be well equipped with high technological knowledge and e-learning is one of them.

For the major oil companies that I serve, e-training is the most financially feasible training to reach the greatest number of employees on the most varied platforms.

Navdip, in present scenario I think E-training will be more beneficial. Today almost every organization is going global and are MNC's. So here E-training will help to cut cost and time which is very important. Instead of having individual trainer for each campus you can have one in the head campus and use video conferencing to train them. This is one way and there are many other ways of E-training...... :)

First, training is depends on the purpose of the organisation. Based on the organization requirement the type of training is to be selected.

On the whole normal training is advantage than e-training. e-training is save time but it will not teach,  we should learn our self. Now a days e-learning is increasing but not getting that much opportunities by learning in normal mode.

Both forms are context sensitive and have their own relevance. It is wrong to categorize blindly that one is better than the other or that one is more important than the other.

Routine induction training on internal processes for a new comer in an organization can be pretty much e-training. But a lot of other training praticularly those that command a significant amount of interaction may require the normal mode. While technology is up to par the bandwidth problem very often makes the e-training an unpleseant experience. The additional issue is that most e-training candidates feel bred faster than in normal training. It may be a different conclusion for others but these are my finding.

Like I said they have their relevant contexts.
