Why these two personalities. There are many personalities of this stature in our country who can be conferred "Bharat Ratna". Mr. Muralidharan raised a valid question, the legitimacy of this Govt. to confer this title to a coveted personality.

I think we need to reverse this question. Only non-partisan, scam-free, patriotic government should confer Bharat Ratna to any citizen who has contributed immensely in his lifetime for the sake of this country. Sachin has got an age-factor, he can wait for a clean-government to confer this Award! Asha is not my choice. There are many singers in this country who are as great as her!
