There are several things related to this.. One is that she wants to leave office earlier than male members (mostly) where she can't put extra effort like men do.. She has too much to do .. The awareness among women about going out and working started later than men. So while there used to be few revolutionary women in who used to stand up and work who have now reached at the top.. The others are still in process..

Yes Its statistical survey. This is due to several aspects.I want to say in short even more women graduate from Business school they are not into employment due to commitments.I observed with my few friends whose wives are MBA graduate and my friends are Engineers. My friends are taking ideas and some key tactics of management from their wives and they are climbing the success laders. So womens are part of our top management either directly or indirect way they are delivering their skills silently in the civilized societies.

Sometimes, there is a mix up of "personal" and "professional" responsibilities, which they can't absolve for various reasons! Spot decisions are hard to comeby when it comes to extra working hours, travel, cocktail parties, and in a situation where you have to grease the palm of certain people in the politics, corporators, bureaucrats and the likes, to get certain favours to increase the sales volume or to reach the target. If you are strong ethically, this world is not for you! Its as simple as that!

The responsibilities of men and women and expectations from society are different. What will happen if women taken over all the work and leadership? do we have any models? Plus the road to the top is not that smooth. It is a highly excruciating and tension filled process which some women might not be able to handle.

Yes Mallika. The great responsibility is home. It is no less important than the work place. Reason why, it is stated that behind every successful man there's a woman. The men are literally driven by women. So ,on an average basis, if she usurps the male's position the home is neglected is neglected. But there are exceptions like Indra Nooyi. But these superwomen are very few.

I agree that she have mixed responsibility. But if you analyse since 1 or 2 years, now women are aware and doing job or joing business at top level. It is growing with confidently in this time and manage all the responsibilities also.

WE are living in India, where women child are killed, while in mothers womb or later when she is delivered .... How can we expect women on Top ! Well, the trend is changing, as more women start to work now... Again, Men is considered to be the bread winner and he does not even lift his finger, while at home. So it will take some time to change the society where we are ... may be decades.. before we accept women as leaders... But on the Contrary, we have the Women at Top, as our rulers... Not a common sight in developed countries.. Women like Indira Gandhi, make a difference to our society. . . When we stop killing the Girl Child.... things will automatically change. . . "Save the Girl Child: !

You/ me- Males dominated Society is One of Major Factor- both of ur idea are nt great to cover this- In this Hippocratic, male dominated society, very husband and inlaws, ensure that there is no emotioanl or value pressure that she may be working but she is Bahu OR Wife. To reach on Top, You cant live your normal life, forget living like Bahu and Wife.

In three separate corporate surveys in the last 10 years, women have been found to be comparatively far more committed than men in whatever they do. Working women have to juggle so many roles - daughter, sister, wife, mother and professional. In their quest to fulfill all these roles many ladies often give up one of the roles to lessen the workload. But this scenario is changing very quickly and there are many lady-professionals who are making their mark in the corporate world.

For many, jobs are for extra-revenue. Except in the Service cadre, mostly, woman do not show career orientation. May be the reason that, the social norms has not yet released them fully. or the society is not congenial to develop an environment to compete more professionally.

Very recently, only, woman entered into Aerospace, Defence etc. May be after sometime, they may catch the trail.

What I noticed that at top position, many organization restrict the entry of woman (No equal employee opportunity followed). Openly, they declare that it is for male candidate only. These kind of trend need to change if they want to lure more woman professional.

Largely if you see, women is made to take care of their needs and activity within the home, family, etc. secondly, career driven women are few at this point of time, so due to which one would not say that they are career oriented, secondly with peer pressure and influence of their subordinates a career oriented women does not get enough freedom, under the influence of men, so due to which there is always a vaccum created considering the situation. I always believed that man should do his work the way he wants and women should follow the system that would make them feel protected. I feel with growing change in the society, now a days women are realising enough why career is important, Infact there are some who have sacrificed their family and home for just to be in career and excell in it.
