There's a difference between a guideline & methodology

PMBOK guide is collection of that subset of the PM body of knowledge that are generally accepted as 'good' project management practice.

PRINCE2 is a full-fledged methodology for projects in controlled environments.

so comparing the two is like comparing apples and oranges.

having said that, here are some other facts:

1. Apart from PRINCE2 there are various Agile & Adaptive methodologies chosen for PM depending on the nature and complexity of the project. That's why 'tailoring' is an important part of methodology optimization.

2.Generally today's  organizations are equipped with resources trained on both.If they have an EU client they would get more acceptance using PRINCE2 and if they are facing the US , PMI standard will be received well.

PRINCE 2 is useful for the client who is U.K.based & nowadays more IT professionals are following PMBOK as most of their work is coming from U.S.A.

In my experience(Not enough experience of complete project management process but Involve in defferent phases of project) project using PRINCE2 methodology have minimal chances of failure than PMBOK.

Hello, I agree with you and following the PRINCE2 methodology in project management as a certified PRINCE2 practitioner. I am not asking about any obvious difference which is well known to project management professionals. I got my answer now. Thanks

Dear Dhananjay Kumar, it would have been more clear had you been framed it more nicely. PRINCE2 and PMBOK are completely different from each other. As Mr Raturi has already explained,PMBOK is collection of that subset of the PM body of knowledge that are generally accepted as 'good' project management practice whereas PRINCE2 is a full-fledged methodology for projects in controlled environments.
