It is true that before launching any product in western countries companies do the systematic survey regarding customer's basic requirement and their ease of working, keeping this thing in mind, engineers do the work of product design and then finally they develop the product.

The argument that it is not necessary to invest in R&D BELONGS TO THE TIME OF AMBASSDOR AND Fiat WHICH RULED THE INDIAN ROADS FOR DECADES. Now every other day we see a new model on the road. Is it possible without R&D?

We go by gut feel rather than innovative market research survey approach. Successful business men in this country are traditional business communities who had inherited basic traits from their forefathers. Therefore, they do not base their business purely on the basis of scientific methodology.

"Every other day we see a new model...." - 80% of them belong to foreign car companies. Foreign companies worship  R&D and market research. I do not think tata is bringing out all these models with a market research that is done to the depth and seriousness of companies like Toyota,Suzuki,Honda,Chevy or Volkswagen! - My argument is based on the number of complaints that people are posting about tata cars....maybe I am wrong.

I agree with Natubhai. RND is the essence for development. Though India has been known for back integration, Industries here need to understand that RND can give them a larger growth prospective.

We are not the product developer but we are the good follower.

Considering a very very big consumer market of India we are having  no hurry in becoming market leader but at the same time we can earn huge amount of money by just simply coping the product. The stockist/dealers of original products are the main source of duplicate products. Our % sale's of duplicate product is much higher than the original one.A great amount of saving on R&D and on market research activities ,will help in lowering down the product cost.In addition to this the profit can be doubled by using cheap raw material. The biggest advantage of this game is that we can tripled the profit by just rapping the duplicate thing in original packing. No product guarantee or after sale's service is required so enormous cost saving is there. The only thing to worry is the wright time to enter and wright time to exist other wise no body will touch your product.

Not only Indian Markets but even markets of Singapore,Malaysia,China are flooded with duplicates products.

No it is not true we do the market research for any product development like i'am in health care industry in this industry before opening a single clinic doctor do the market analysis, same is the case with pharma industry before introduction of any medicine in market they do the clinical trials..send sample to doctors and then after its successful approval from the doctors than they introduce there medicine in market.

Do you think the problem will be ended by just boycotting ! The answer is No. Proper education, awareness and fighting against the cause is the main strategy to fight against such issues.
Just before DEEPAWALI we are coming across such type of sale's campaign. This is general discussions of our  forceful purchase. On the other hand we getting some thing cheap and most of our purchase for the festivals are done by this method only.
