Managers sometimes can be little tough, this is to make one to work to meet some set targets. This will help a new employee to learn how to get targets met as the climb up the lader. Then this may not be a daily event, it happens when a new employee is slightly slow in understanding the nuances of his work. Mostly managers are supposed to be humane. I have seen new employees feeling out of place and dumb and managers making them do works on a scale and adviscing them how to approach work on a regular basis.

Its the tough which survive in the long run. A bit of tough posturing on the work front should do a load of good to any youngster. But this should go hand-in-hand with a bit of mentoring too. Only tough posturing will create an opposite effect on the youngster.

It is purely depend upon the nature of an individual/ manager that how to get work done? Some feels comfortable by torturing their subordinates while some prefers to help them. Thanks for referral ,Shikaha.

But, like the school aged bully, office bullies are good at sucking up to the boss and keeping their bad behavior under the radar. Experts say, the logic behind this approach is that bullies need something to push against. They expect you to argue back. This gives them the satisfaction of being able to justify their behavior because you are obviously “bad.” But, by saying, “Oh, I’m so sorry. Let me apologize,” you’ve moved that wall that they are pushing against and they fall onto their faces.

it is generally seen that some employers like to torture their employees whike giving others a lot of help. it is a very bad situation when u are faced with acute, chronic colleagues, and you have to purposely lose. why cant managers stop torturing good workers at the cost of weaker ones?

I am of the opinion that the first and foremost duty of a Manager to take work from employee hence they should be nice and helpful otherwise the managers target will not be accheived. 

Yes there are exception to the rule at times who go out in short time.
