Why VISTA only and not XP?

It has been observed though the upgraded versions of Laptop /PC's are coming with VISTA version now a days, saying they got lots of features and good security systems but practically while in use, it has been observed that systems with VISTA are not as compatible as XP for lots of softwares and these systems are not so user friendly.
