This is really abt being good vs Becoming GREAT and I came across a article which define the difference betn them - The great ones chose discipline over pleasure
- The great ones believe they cannot fail...they can only learn and grow
- The great ones take responsibility
- Champions have an immense capacity for world class concentration
World class performer devote invest inordinate time and energy for the selection of Major Goals and follow it with sustained concentration Even at this age and at this stature Sachin Tendulkar goes daily for practise Thats makes him great not only talent

Amit, before you place the comparison, you need to address “Them”. If your “Them” counts Newton, then indeed it’s not a matter of risk taking ability but to maintain sanity in hardship and think clearly is what is required. Coz, people can be progressively productive in secured and congenial habitat, but how one behaves in adverse conditions is the real test. Newton, Albert Einstein, Aristotle and many Great-men, had proved their mettle not in serene and stable conditions in their lives but they had conjure many a hardship.

Great argument Amit It's a well known fact that we, Indians, especially the middle class, are easily satisfied, happily content in our own little worlds, and lack the will to look beyond our cosy cubicles and drawing rooms for challenges. A major part of the blame should fall on our social structure, and accepted beliefs and customs. We are not supposed to delay getting married beyond a certain age, not supposed to challenge authority, not supposed to chuck a cushy job and plunge into something uncertain, in short - not supposed to act in a manner that might not be acceptable to our peers/friends/family. Ages of conditioning to accept things as they come have made the average Indian a contented, less ambitious, less daring, and inertia-prone individual, with notable exceptions like Dhirubhai Ambani, JRD Tata and similar others challenging the status quo once in a while.

Yes we are, as we are not quality conscious. We try to finish things as soon as possible and put them behind us. We do not have any eye for detail or how to do things differently and in a better manner. Hence its not satisfaction, but more of a mindset of how to get over things with.

Well said amit, I agree with you. Most of us are happy with what we have. And we forget our aims and goals. If you ask a person what you want to be, he will tell many things but when he gets a good job with a good salary he forgets it and tries to be happy with what he has. This is the reason we are not able to archive anything. So we should never get satisfied till we get what we want.......

Yes. The difference is having Goal for your life. The difference between Them ad US is just they know where the Goal Post is and rest do not. Its like a Two Sailors sailing in high seas, one has compass and another does not. The one who has compass can somehow reach the shore but the one without it (Compass) will keep wondering until death

If Newton had his focus on just being able to fill the belly from dawn to dusk surely the attention would have been on eating the apple rather than........finding answers to.... why??? and how???

Yes!!! While I agree to an extent to lack of risk appetite there are reasons. 1. Years of working as told by masters and continuing , with reason or mostly...otherwise.. 2. Insecurities not removed which as well means freedom not realized by minds or being overly celebrated only by select few at cost of others. 3. Government collecting taxes but wasting highest chunk on own or fancies resulting in no social security. 4. Power and Ego in front, foreclosing reason, logic and open minded learning. 5. No encouragement to innovators and thinkers while run of the mill appeasers celebrated and honored. Dreams are possible with free minds alone, appetite alone may not suffice.

100% I agree with Mr. Naushad sir, this is a very simple concept we are too satisfied what ever little we have because we lack risk appetite to follow our dreams. I think our social partner Mr. Amit taken this negatively, I suggest him to think about what he written. Newton spent whole life to invent the laws of motion, Ambani now a big tycoon of business, Lance Armstrong really the gr8 person all are tried, they make there goals, they dream in a daylight and they have taken a risk to make it true they are not satisfied what they have a little or big. There motive is there name and fame and they taken a risk for the same. We too need to dare, we too need to try and we too need to think out of the box, then only it can be hit.
