Dear Shilpa and all, thanx for referring. PC is basically known as the taxman as his expertise in. I remember the man is called to be as the `Darling of Markets (Capital)` nearly a decade ago when he abolished the taxes on dividend income. Well I love his style and like to copy the presentations. I think he knows each and every taxation system in introducing from the developed countries. As him in HM`s chair i think PC as the most disappointed man in ministry. Even many times still he speaks about financial economy all about the money markets. He is the HM as to convince Congress, who are at absolute majority. Passing the time as the Home Minister or the HouseWife from taxman is to just occupying the table. Nothing seriously will affect to any hard talks with pakistan for terrorism or maoist etc. etc. Whatever visits, nothing will be resolved. Simply suited....!!!

I agree he is the most suited for the job at hand. At the same time we shoud not forget the numerous sacrifices made by our brave Army Soldiers be it 26/11 as part of NSG or the every day casualties which do not even make a headline in any newspapers. The sacrifices should not go waste at any cost . Till the time our politicians have that in the mind the justice would be done .

Shilpa I agree with you on all counts but remember todays united India was a creation of Sardar Patel. I have every respect for Mr PC but lets not compare him with Patel. Hope you will take it in right sprit.

I have no doubts about our HM's ability, the question arises about Pakistan's intention and seriousness in this regard they are know for harboring terrorists on their soil

Chidambaram's hard talk may speed up the trial to a certain extent. However, whenever India goes to the negotiating table with Pakistan, there is a delay and despite repeated reminders and rejoinders, the outcome is more or less a status quo and nothing much happens to change the situation. However, Chidambaram's urging and other members focus may try to speeden up the trial. However, this is just a conjecture and we need to see what overt outcomes are being taken by the Pakistan govt. in order to ensure that history does not repeat itself......

This is another effort to bring the culprit to the court of law. Let Pakistan take some serious steps against the people involved in 26/11 attack.

Sadly no.. we will find our home-minister do the parrot talking politely pecking at the Pakistan government, expect we indians to show tolerance and belief in his dialogue with pak government. This is a senstitive issue where every indian knows.

Shilpa, I agree with you what you described about Mr. C, but it doesnt mean that Pak will act on terrorism. In fact controlling terror in P is out of control of their govt. I feel. May be for general support P people will say that they will do it , they will do that. But I dont think they will make it practical..

If a person is fooled once, it is understandable. But if a person is getting fooled continuously, what will you call him? Fools? No. Not at all. You call them Indians. Pakistan knows that Indians are spineless people who cannot take strong and quick decisions like Israel. And that is why they keep troubling India. And if a person has decided to trouble you, can you make him change with any amount of talking? That should summarise this discussion. Even after providing umpteen dossiers, tons of evidence and lots of strong talks, Pakistan has not done anything. If a mosquito keeps on biting you, do you tell it not to bite? That is the solution.

It goes without saying that Chidambaram is a task master and perhaps first external affairs minister having nerves of steel but as far as this terrorism issue is concerned and that too with Pak;it is not going to reach at climax.India needs to take stand like Israel while dealing with any kind of terrorism but our politicians themselves dont want to hurry the process because it has nothing in store for them. Also,by acting tough on Pakistan they fear ruining their Muslim vote bank in rural areas.Yes it is a bitter truth. It has been about 18 months and still nothing has happened.why?I hope we all know.We dont want peace at the cost of our lives.Do we?We know what should have India done that November itself.Time has passed and nothing will happen now.

I dont think any straight bilateral talk is going to change the situations ta all. I believe that the main problem why we are unable to put actual measurable result orientated pressure on pakistan is our lack of goodwill in nearby muslim countries (and Middle East) who can actually make an impact. Pakistan actually acts as the boss of muslim countries with hardly anything in its hands politically. The duty of its politicians unofficially seems to be to cover ISI and other terrorist outfits ( and they have to do it to save their lives if not by their wish/will).Nobody seems to be accountable for anything which is happening in Pakistan I believe. So when accountability itself is not there, to whom are we showing our rigidness or straight talk? Who is going to bother in Pak? Looks like they feel their job is done till they are able to keep India to these straight talks.I hope things change sooner.Sometimes i feel sympathy for Pakistani people who i think are being the victims of these terrorist activities back home. Sometimes I feel Pakistan is not the one who is actually behind all this. They are just being made the scapegoat or frontface. I even doubt if there is any government in any country who actually wants to solve this issue permanently.
