Yes I jobs will exist in India , the T jobs are definitely staying with brains of USA.

India is a minuscule player when it comes to home grown patents and technology .

Better safe than sorry , cover your ass(ets) when you can. Stay safe with non-IT

Though I disagree with Mr. Roy's argument, I feel that cloud computing will increase the number of IT jobs. As cloud computing gets popular the SMB market will open up and people who could not afford networking or were not aware of it's benefits will start using these technologies. There will be a surge in demand for IT people to manage, write code, and develop it as per individual requirements.

Mr. Roy, cloud computing is already functional and experiencing healthy growth.

I think it will result it few IT jobs.

As could computing brings new dynamics to the way the companies are managing their infrastructure. The reduced start up cost, ability to have flexible and powerful computing platform with a variable cost structure and no long term commitment is certainly the future

Companies moving to cloud computing will result in workforce reduction within its infrastructure and application development groups.

Cloud computing can be simply put as HPC (High Performance Commputing) + sophisticated VIRTUALISATION of System, Storage + Stable Broad band Network + Very Good Clients preferably Browser based but has basic capability of WebDAV, security standards etc.

I don't see any of above technology not going to grow at CAGR of 12 to 18 % on Passismistic view for next 5 years with discount of migration of 50% of applications from Own Datacentre to Cloud.

If Clouds of enterprise class applications are available - Demand from Large to SME are going to grow... thus the employment of guys handling the Cloud part.

Although I see some impact on home grown server admin team.. but if enterprises decide to deploy PRIAVTE CLOUD then ...??

Cloud Computing tends to redesign IT hardware  which ignite surge in IT software services. Companies need to be  more focused on their software enhancement and cross platform integrations. Moreover, there will be new platform to use multiple OS at lower maintenance cost. Definitely, it will take time to get fully recognized but it won't lead to any job loss.

Its a new technology framework, its just a concept which is yet to materialize. It will require lot of domain knowledge and R&D, bench marking to happen for the next couple of years to come. I am sure that will require more IT think tanks and implementers . May be in the long run it will target less resource utilization. I feel Cloud computing wont make much difference as far as IT job prospects is concerned because it is more focused on lowering the hardware infrustructure costs.

I agree with Sriram that it will result in more jobs because of decreased cost of automation. We will definitely see more IT employees than they exist today because of cloud computing.

No, it will increase the number of jobs. As Cloud computing decreases the cost of computing, the companies will save more and it will result in more jobs. More jobs because once the companies become affordable to automate things which are not automated.the workforce required will increase.
