yep! now new technologies have become part of our day to day life. In presentso busy life new trends and technologies have really become boon for executing the things in nick of time and in organised manner.Computers are the main links of todays technology trends. They have always contributed in making our lives more convenient.

no doubt its a boon if u use the technology to good effect but consider these points the increase in computer crimes, hacking, bankruptcy, computer games hampers child education, easy access to vulgar sites, increase in cutting of trees for electricity consumed on computer system

As time leads to change things around us & every person wants to utilize time by doing fast work so they adopt vairous measures for that such as using new techniques so it depends on how we use these techniques it does not effect on earth....

Dear Mahalaxmi this is potentially one of the most important debate i have participated but first of all i wold like to clear the fact that Technology will never destroy our environment, infact it will protect us. Since the subject is Technological waste, it do have an adverse effect on the environment. We are actually putting pressure on the environment and the sad thing is that inspite of the companies claiming to dispose them of responsibly we are yet to find a new technology which can break down plastic material into harmless components. We should responsibly use our resources unless some new technology comes out as Saviour. lol.........

Every thing man creates has a side effect. If we know how to invent or discover without affecting the eco-cycle or environment, we would be akin to God! To imitate brain's function, you require several chips and electronic circuits to mimic your activity. Obsolescence is unavoidable in man's creation - how do we tackle them? Do we have enough time to think about disposals! You have seen the ill-effect of Cobalt 60 radiation in Delhi Mayapuri area from a Scrap Dealer's godown. used toners, developer of photocopiers are highly dangerous, so are the computer monitors, electron guns in TV, monitors, etc. We do not have any concern about any of these, yet inviting new gadgets at the cost of environment. You have separate techology for Radio, FM, Photography, entertainment gadgets - when we desire to have all in one in the communication device, not only we are inviting health trouble, viz., brain haemorrage, nervous break-down, epilepsy, paralysis, RSA syndrome, deaf etc. We are prone to accidents on the road, as we do not tend to focus on the road because of this diversion in our approach. We have been practicing to do multi-tasking, as if we are thinking that our life is shrinking and we would like to achieve everything together at a shortest time possible. We have lost our focus on life, and tend to imitate and emulate everything that's harmful for the society.

New technologies required for managing waste like E waste, so awareness among people required. Even educated person will throw the CD to outside his home, sometimes give to babies for playing

If V Go against Nature , The Nature is also go Against with us.......... Food is the important one for the All. One fine day there is no food in the world if we only develop the technology in IT alone, We should concentrate on Agricultural Technology development. Anybody earn money by Technology, but without harvest nobody can buy food....

we can argue a lot on this.we can say use the technology properly. it is not the fault of technology. but argument is not able to change the seen. fact is that blind race of computor technology adoption has harmed alot.lot of occupational hazards have surfaced.lot many socio-political harm have been done &problem of cultural destruction with speed has also surfaced due to same.

Yes Computer and new Technology will destroy earth unless something is being done to recycle the old technology and generate the best out of the waste. Every new technology developed should plan/track for closure of older technology and show the overall revenue impacts to assess the real benefit of the new technology. It has to be built in to the existing process of emerging technologies. With the emergence of new technology (upgraded chips and flat plasma) no doubt there is more ease of use and huge revenue savings potentially (in terms of power and energy usage) but without the assessment of the e-waste being generated by dumping the older technology. The impacts of the same will be visible when a significant level has reached which would be beyond our control then.

I think computers & new technologies are destroying the earth's environment. With the upcoming of new technologies we are blindly dumping old devices that pile up into toxic wastes. There should be reasonable way of using the old devices rather than dumping it as if somebody else is there to take care of it.
Then too recycling companies are not ethical in their doings. They use whatever cheap ways possible to dump the wastes thereby increasing toxic levels in the atmosphere.New technologies should aim at how can we use our avilable resources to its optimum levels without endangering Nature & its surroundings.

i dont think so computers and technology will destroy our earth..but if we use them badly then it might..why to blame on computers? its the human beings who is exploring deeply about the newer technologies and bringing new ideas.we can take the example of the film enthiran..the technology being used in that itself indiacates the development of technologies.through this our society is self awared about such facts..how can then we say all these will destroy our earth??and i believe our earth to turn into a robot world

no, its really a sceptical belief or cynicalism to doubt the existence of earth just because of technoloogical dvelopement, all this things are gifts of god which are to be developed after developing specific knowledge. So nothing will happen to our earth, be positive.

No . E-waste cannot distroy our earth. Its a big matter but we can invent new technology for recycling of this e-waste. So many research are going on recycling and we can use our e-product in good manner.

E-waste concerns are greatly misdirected against computers as there is a clear life cycle of these devices and most of the time they are closely watched. On the other side, there is a vast variety of "ecological" devices that are thrown away without second thoughts, e.g. lighting devices, and these comprise of toxic materials. It is true that a CFL uses less electricity than an incadescent lamp, but its initial cost and life cycle against the saved energy and toxic waste that it becomes at the end, together with its poor CRI ... I'd say CFL-s are a great deal more of a threat than computers.

No... humans will destroy the Earth long before the technology can in a myriad of ways. The potential for destruction in humans is astounding. People who develop technologies will obviously have to take precautions against harming the environment too much. The norms these days force them to. Disposal might be a problem in some cases but I am sure that some genius out there is now currently working on something that will take care of the waste. Its how we work - we build things which are very useful, but after their usefulness is comes to an end, we invent something to destroy the old. Hey who knows, e-waste might become such a big problem that UN or some international body might decide to destroy the e-waste in space through the use of satellite launchers. Another point to consider is that technology is inevitable. Who is to say what technology may be invented in the future? Recently, I read a report that some scientist from India with collaboration from a US university has invented a very easy and cheap way to dispose of nuclear waste, rendering it completely harmless. If such a thing is possible with N-waste, how difficult is it to deal with e-waste?

Because of without Computer Nothing Possible...Because of Today Computers are almost all walks of life: Banks, hospitals, schools, publishing, manufacturing, enterprisement, shops, libraries, factories, travels, hotels, research, messaging, film production, meetinhg & conference, security service, now in world the rilway &Airlines reservation is Online I think.............. I think it is fair to say that personal computers have become the most empowering tools we have ever created. They are tools of communication, they are tool of creativity, and they can be shaped by their user.” ..…Bill Gates. People all around the world are moving very fast on the web by way of putting their portfolios, photographs and information related to their business. Winners Don’t Do Different Things. They Do Things Differently. I think it's a enough for understood the WHY NO?

well i serously dont think thats going to be... so far they have only helped us to survive a lil better... and about the e waste well there are other waste we should be concerned about (radio active etc etc) rather then e waste which can be completely recycled... :)

Surely the disposal of e-waste is a worldwide problem but it's not going to destroy earth. There are many more stuffs which could do the job for instance nuclear bombs or global warming.

I believe that technology is being used to make things more convenient and accessible be it in medicine, education, jobs, transportation etc. The technology is progressing very fast. On the contrary, we really need to ensure if the technology is being used in a proper manner and not for destructive purposes like nuclear bombs and also a way to dispose off the e-waste which might harm environment.

Its like saying that I will not venture out of the house cos I will meet with an accident. Technology has improved the quality of life and the same technology should be used to ensure that it keeps itself safe. I know infact of a hardware giant that had collected ewaste to recycle it.Infact most of the computers manufactured are going eco friendly under different names(we just have to google them).

Well..I would like to comment that computers and latest technologies can play major role in the protection of earth if used properly. Without technologies and computers we were not able to extract rightinformation about earth and enviornmental changes and future prediction about natural clamities and distasters, thankfully we have advance technologies which helps us to prepare ourselves to know and protect ourselves and the nature before mother nature show her anger, but the requirement is to use the state of the art technologies in constructive way and correct implementation of strategies. there are few challenges like how we can destroy waste which emits carbonmonooxide and other dangerous gases...We need to tackel this issue immidiately and explicitly. Otherwise i would say technologies helped us to know our planet and awareness about our nature and natural resources.
