Recent developments in Vancouver suggest that the new, snappy Twenty20 might change it all in 2020.With the International Olympic Committee granting full recognition to the International Cricket Council, cricket's governing body can bid for a slot in 2013 when the host for the 2020 Games will be finalized.

It's guaranteed to be an eye-turner, at least in India. At the end of the day, it's just another hope for a medal contender, but right now, public perception seems to be our cricketers merely need to turn up to guarantee the country a gold.

So users, do you think cricket in Olympics can boost India's medal prospects?

Though only one medal can't change to the whole prospect yet it will support other sports too simultaneously. At least they will also get some notice.

I would like to do a small correction Mr.Yash, may be cricket can bring one Gold medal for India but it won't make any much difference as it will just add more medal in the list and bring India's first Gold medal. But won't mean to "boost" India's medal prospects...

Why not. India's strength is in cricket. We are one of the best cricket teams in the world and currently in Rank 1 position. We have a very good hand on cricket than other games. So, I think India can win gold via cricket in the olympics.

Yash, its nice to be optimistic but ground reality says something different!!

India has another category where it has a bright chance to show its prowess, but we never seem to show the burning desire and passion to go get it!! I feel we are not even remotely there to establish supremacy in cricket. Also remember that Olympics means that most cricket playing nations are there too. I have my doubts!!

Thanks for the referral Yash :)
