Yes today digital media are the best tool to create awareness among the people. Some of the means are online campaigns, youtube videos, niche communities, social media, etc.

Digital media is surely the most effective tool for transparency. Question is to what extent our politics, governance, law & order wants to empower people?

People of India are exposed to media in every sphere, as many years of digital media. How much has it helped in our attitudes, ethics and governance? I feel ashamed being an informed citizen at the truant corruption being all around you. To get additional pages endorsed on my passport for further travel it took 24days after reaching the highest level (A citizen who traveled over 30 times overseas and held passport for over 35 years).  If I have to bribe police inquiry in exasperation!  Had I links to the underworld or one such of Headly type, I'm sure passport would have been delivered at home.

Digital world or Outer world, it can never help our corrupt mentality and attitudes. For India and Indians, change of HEART rather than MIND is required for capitalizing digital revolution!

No doubt there is a divide in india on digital Media usage; especially between  village and metro usage. But when india grows to be BHARATH the media should be ready to be used by ONE and ALL, so that before a law/bill in passed the POPULATION votes and NOT just Bunch OF KhanGRESS Thugs in a building called Parliament as is NOW by the Nehruvian Khan Dinasty

I agree with your opinion, but the success depends upon the reach .. the digital media is accessible to the educated mass... and for the remaining public, especially, in the rural areas ? In our country there is a divide between educated & uneducated population.

Thanks for the referral Ms.Swapna Das.

Only today I read an article on this where delhi police using facebook to make ppl aware abt traffic situation in the city as well as ppl can complain abt wrong behaviour of police online and that helps.

Democracy is TOTAL participation. With  Digital Divide a totality is MISSED; we need 100% digital literacy when we lack even in Basic Literacy. Democracy no doubt will be TOTAL only with DIGITAL MEANS BUT with current state of affairs ??

Dear Swapna,

Media or science or technology has not advanced to the extent that it can remake a better person of a living human. If our democracy needs help it is the handling humans who need to change their colonial mindset. And the more powerful requires the biggest change in mindset for democracy to get any better. Unless there exists a "will to change" and treat the most deprived with deserved honor of a human being, it is AAM AADAMI misruled by KHAAS. Thus democracy being meaningful for this KHAAS AADAMI only.

The largest democratic country like U.S.A are now preferrng to postal ballot

both soft and hard to coexist
