This and other views was what came from the day-long Conde Nast Digital Day conference, held in partnership with Campaign India in Mumbai on Thursday.  The question that loomed large during the panel discussion later was whether luxury brands in India have cottoned on to the power of digital and social media.

Do you think e-commerce will be the most important store for luxury brands in India??

Digital in the beauty business is still new in India, where television and press are still dominant. But it will certainly have a place in the future.  Most of the affluent users are part of the early adopter group.  So, in terms of ad space for luxury brands, the market is already there on the internet and on mobile, but still traditional media is the best way for the Luxury brands to market themselves than going for e-commerce..I agree that e-commerce or digital marketing budget is going up, but still traditional media rules the roost here....

Yes I agree. But this will take considerable time as the Internet is yet to spread widely in India like Mobile Phones.

Most powerful media is still TV and is viewed by the mass.Luxury is for the elite and the most vibrant and agressive media is TV and other visual media..E commerce has defenitely a place but yet to move up the scale to have any dominent role now
