Electric cars in short term cannot really relieve from Foreign oil Dependency. The reason being very short range of travel per charge.High initial cost(which people do not like to even listen in our country).Inability to sell in rural markets.Less practicality (as they are 2 seaters generally & boot space is less). But in longer run if manufacturers promise an approximate range of around 150km-200km per charge ,then it will surely overtake small car market. This may partially reduce the demand for small cars but not completely because electric vehicles lag in performance.

Yes.. Now only technology starts to improve in the electric segment. Presently, electric vehicle giving less mileage with high charge. The equipments which incoporated in the vehilce management system, to be improved with high electronic techniques. So, electric charge can be utilized for more mileages. once, the technology has improved definitely, people will be moving from oil energy utilization to electrical energy utilization. definitely it will take some time..

the statement implies that there is no local electricity generation - we need to give credit where it is due in any assesment. that we need to do a lot more to be a stronger is a more agreeable statement.

By using domestically-generated electricity rather than relying on foreign oil, we can achieve energy independence and will no longer need to engage in costly wars in the Middle East to secure an energy supply.

No it won't because people won't go for electric cars usually and to change the people's mindset is difficult, as such there are so many drawbacks with these cars and don't know whether electric cars will relieve oil dependencies, so better stick with normal cars, and even fuel is getting cheaper, and in terms of technology we don't have adequate infrastructure to create such cars in huge proportions.......

The only way to relieve foreign oil dependencies is if a domestic supply of electricity exists. If this supply is non-existent, then there is no real possibility to power electric cars and move away from foreign oil dependencies.

Maruti, has not been successful in launching trendy and luxury cars in India. With the present models of Maruti I don't think they can compete Kizashi for long. So I think Kizashi has to face a tough competition.
