I agree. We as Indians have never been into much Research in any of the industry or sector. I am not sure if any one of them can come up with a product that sets as benchmark like Google, Microsoft etc. Because majorly Innovation comes from a young, fresh mind so investment should be done accordingly. However, as an Indian, it feels proud to see these biggies taking a major share of IT/IT consulting/IT enabled devices from across the world, giving employment to thousands.

Yes Amrita right, Google is giant, tcs-infosys is not of 0.1% of google. 'coz they do not expend on research only outsourcing, do not try to do something new, different. And what I think we dont have good skilled professional very much, they are for count only. But some middle size coming with great ideas and concept. Hope in future map will change

Yes, but I have a different point of view. We Indians boast ourself to be having brightest minds in the world, we think, we have the largest sunk of intellectuals, we boast to have largest numbers of engineers and we boast on many other counts but intersetingly we do not have any software brand. In the list of name of great personalities we very often utter names like Vinod Dham, Narayan Murthi and many others yet we are not able to lunch OS like windows. We have many of fortune five hundred company and many richest people but we do not have Buildings like Burge Dubai, we donot have bridge like Akashi bridge of Japan somehow we constructed a bridge in mumbai name Worley sea link which is nowhere near any big bridge in the world. Yet, this is India which we all are proud of and we are different from the world, by our nature, culture and values and this makes us proud Indian and we are different.

Yes agree with u. there is something else we should know - the top smart gadgets, hardrives, mobiles, GPS, etc have firmwares and independent OS which are developed by these Indian Companies but still these companies are not even thinking of Launching there open market products as Nero, Adobe, etc are doing....

certainly brand building exercise is just that tough as you know you require utmost integrity in helping your clients stay with you. the huge investments done by threebig companies infosys wipro and tcs speaks volumes of their calibre in continuously fighting for survival as recession creeped in nevertheles these companies standout by their performance looking at the results on quarterly basis you still need to admit we have enough brainpower and young budding talents who can pave india a new roadmap to recovery to tide up economy sliding. that is real valour you need to count on management efficiency as peers

Yes Amrita you are right but initially the objectives of these companies to get business particularly from US in which all of them were successful. The second phase should have been on Brand building on which front everybody caught napping. I think all these companies must have understood the importance of Brand and now on the process of building the same and it will take time. Microsoft, Google became brands because of uniqueness of their product and above all their willingness to create a Brand.

Obviously, at the end of the day, success is all about scaling up into newer markets. This can be done only if they build the "BRAND"
