Will India be able to meet the land and water needs of growing population?

Every one of us know where India stands in Population. will we be able to meet all the needs by importing from other contries? What about Land and Water.

Land is such a thing which cannot be produced, India is a peace loving country which cannot wage wars and occupy other country's land, we don't have resources to backfill ocean. In this context the next 20years plan should concentrate on using land either cultivable or residential to produce multiple returns. High yielding crops needs to be cultivated(less land more yield), alternative foods to be thought off(Alternatives to paddy and wheat). More multi storied buildings need to be constructed and construction of individual houses to be restricted. Desalination and recycling of water is a costly affair and can be done only in small parts of the country. scientists should come up with crops which need water in small quantities. All the river basins should have aquifer recharing facilities at micro basin level.

It is true that the Govt failed to provide sufficient housing and water supply to the growing population. But as responsible citizens, we also need to address the population growth. If not even if the Govt is efficient, it can't solve.

I felt that something is not correct in this debate then i understood the options provided are not directly linked to the question asked.

Well we can meet the land and water needs in the future,its is possible,and will be done in time.We guys think that our brilliant,intellectual fellowmen are not working on this?Yes some strong regulations will be brought ahead to serve the sole purpose of making survival possible for our future generation.Five year plans,and government policies....we were,we are and (i dont hope) we will be dependent on the civic bodies....We take government for granted....we think provision of basic necessities by government bodies is our birth right....we are wrong.

There are so many water resources privately held...wells ,tube wells...make them semi private.

Promote joint family culture this will save unwanted use of land...only one residence per family should be mandatory...no one should be allowed to purchase more than one.this sounds rude.....but is a necessity.

make rain water harvesting mandatory,and when practised shud be given some relaxation in water tax.

Club water and electricity bills together,and all taxes including water electricity in one paper.This will avoid non-payment of water n electricity bills,especially in rural areas and that too the sahukars...the rich farmers,politicians they are the culprits.

Save water and land now and u will have it for future.

Land and water is the most prescrious thing in this world. But the human activities are polluting the land and water in such a way that will question the survival of the living things. Land and water can't be imported from any where else. So we must be very careful in utilising our resources. India has not able to achieve the pollution control so far.

INDIA is a well planned country,especially we have well planned cities&towns,India will not suffer for land and water in any time,bcoz we have enough resources to utilize but our government is lacking in systems, Moreover we are lacking in modern science and technology,For example like japanese we are not constructed our airports in sea,we are not taking fresh water from sea water treatment system like foreign countries
