If becoming superpower means millions living in acute poverty, no drinking water, no electricity, no potable water, worst possible public transport then yes India will be superpower in all these things. 2020 is not a special year. Even those countries who are many decades ahead of us (like Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, Mexico etc.) in human development and overall development are not sure that they will become developed countries by then and you are talking about India becoming superpower by 2020 which is nothing but fooling ourselves.

Again a stupid question *sigh* Do you guys see the Demographic change it has come around? 15 American States have filed petitions in the American Congress for secession, It’s either the political theater equivalent of a hissy fit or the start of more than a dozen new countries: Citizens in 15 states have filed petitions to secede from the United States after Tuesday’s election. These include Louisiana (which led the charge), the Republic of Texas, Kentucky, Colorado, New Jersey, Montana, North Dakota, Indiana, Mississippi, North Carolina, Alabama, Florida, Georgia and Oregon. And somewhat hilariously, someone in North Dakota filed a petition requesting New York secede, which seems pretty rude, given they are sort of handling a major natural disaster right now. Although this is largely seen as symbolic, the filers in each state still have a month to gather 25,000 signatures to have their peaceful withdrawal from the U.S.A. considered by the president. Good luck with that.

Dil bah lane ke liye Galib Khayal Achcha hae...In a nation facing rampaging corruption, politicos and bureaucrats abusing power, you are conceiving its future's rosy picture. Is it justified, feasible? Be on ground, you are free to build castles in air, optimism enthuses, but you can't run away from ground zero situation...

India seems to be not destined to be a superpower for the simple reason that our Political ideology is Machivellian where as all the other present supepowers including Russia follow the Platonic virtuous political scheme of things. Machicellian scheme of politics is per se non-existential and is dangerous where as Platonic is simple, straight forward and virtuous following scientific routes where as Machivellian is non-scientific, cruel and dangerous. So the problem this political route of Machivellianism in the nation will create enough problems for the nation and a whole nation preoccupied with solving such problem will prevent India from ever working up and efficient economy without much problems and we will never be destined to be a superpower unless ofcourse we change our political scheme from 'manipulating fellow citizen for selfish interest' to 'taking decisions on how the wealth of a nation be created and employed for efficient outcomes'.

Yes. India has great potential to grow. The bottle neck is the negativity that has happened mainly due to the systemic failure in every area and lack of rapport between the Government and the governed. The way out is to put back the bureaucracy back on rail making them responsible and answerable in delivering proper governance without interference from the political masters most of whom are ignorant and incapable of the complex and intricate nature and needs of governance in country like India and lack continuity in policy and decision making.

At the best politicians can be middlemen between people who elect them and the government run by adequately skilled and experienced Bureaucrats. To improve efficiency of the departments and eradication of corruption, both in Central and States, every department should have support of IT based systems with ERP etc., in implemented and used properly. Yes, it's not a dream, of-course we can be a superpower by 2020 provided we have to stop this comparison which we do our intra-part in our country. First of all it should not be a party oriented country like If Congress rules for five years it should not concentrate on its existence in the future. If any party does something outstanding in favour of country, it will obviously be known forever. Hence this royality for each individual should stop..

India is definitely surging ahead and there is all possibilities that India will become a superpower by 2020. But we will have to throw away corruption from this country only then it is possible.

India must tackle its internal problems. Maoist terror is growing day by day. If the people are not united, the nation will become weaker. Jihadi and Maoist terrors need to be checked. The Government needs to work for the welfare of the people. Distribution of wealth is a big issue in this country, as a small proportion of the population owns virtually everything. If we cannot have equitable development, there might be a civil war. So India cannot become a super power by 2020 at this rate.

Residents in 40 US states want to secede:-

New York, Nov 14 (bdnews24.com)—More than 500,000 residents from at least 40 states have petitioned the White House asking President Barack Obama to allow their states to "withdraw from the United States of America". In other words, it means they asked the Obama administration for secession.

The electronic petitions cited the Declaration of Independence, the growth of the federal government and the economy in their bids to secede, Utah, US-based Deseret News said. Petitions to strip citizenship of individuals signing onto petitions to secede and exile them have also been submitted, reported Huffington Post. The White House website was deluged with secession petitions after invited citizens to petition the administration to "take action on a range of important issues" facing the US." If 25,000 people sign the petition within 30 days of posting, it will "require a response" from the Obama administration, according to published rules of the White House's online "We the People" program. The White House staff "will review it, ensure it's sent to the appropriate policy experts and issue an official response".

That is only because INDIA is a place of vast-unemployed-backward and only 10% of the indian population earns abv. 50k which thaen helps the govt. by 30% credential of each member of the country who are earning well.

Lets look now to the GDP , per capita-

USA - $14,441,425,000,000 (/capita - $47440

Japan- GDP -4,910,692,000,000 ( /capita - 66,090 $

China - GDP - 4,327,448,000,000 (GDP/capita-$3259

Australia - -"-1,013,461,000,000 (-"--- = $45,824

**INDIA - GDP=$1,206,684,000,000  GDP/Capita - $1,017

Some how INDIA invests the worth of 2 IPADs in each capita which shows no where to stand beside the growing powers. According to me If INDIA works DAY and NIGHT till 2020 their GDP and GNP price will rise by 8.659% which is too less and the machinery used to develop things is also poor. Corruption will also stand as a barrier from becoming a super power. Litreacy rate of INDIA is 69.93%.

According to me GERMANY , USA, CHINA, JAPAN

One of this 4 countries will become the SUPER POWER of 2020 and ahead it.

To reach a destination one must agree to  a mode of transport, know/learn the way or simply face in that direction. Without even intent of trying any of above, no one can reach anywhere.

Absence of Good Governance + Missing Infrastructure + Professional Progress deficit + Poor Industrial output can never find replacement  through stock markets or commodity trading and wishful thinking.

See today's situation of Rupee & most important thing is slow growth of Country. We are taking so much time on basic things like infrastructure, education, Health, Internal Security. Corruption is the main big obstacle in growth. What we will do in just 8 Years? We don't have any magic candy. We have capacity to become a super power but our Government & Bureaucrats don't have vision to do so. Everyone is engaged in only personal growth by way of corruption & political interests. Very few are serious about country growth.

Financial superpower is more important than artillery and military super power. remember at the time of pokhran test, US imposed economic sanctions on India. On the other hand, we must think to fill the stomach of thousands of poor indians before becoming the superpower ,then only the meaning the meaning of super power can be justified.

Oh please abstain from that emotional buoyancy of "Superpower". First look that still about 88% of populace is living in filthy conditions-lacking basic amenities and please dont forget that Indian govt's lame policies are fastly impoverishing people except "rich" and "influence" ones. Yes, India may tame such a dream with showy GDP numbers but superpower will be without bulging biceps and vigor!

to be acknowledged as a super power, india needs to assume a leading role commensurate to it growing stature in the global community. india has, or is on its way to acquiring the necessary economic & military muscle to back it.  but are these enough ? the question is do we have, or will we have the internal cohesion & stability required for this dream to come true. do we have the political will to stategise our goals with clarity & synergise them with our multitude of resources for all round development. or will we stumble along the beaten track - traditionally reactive - letting events shape our future without attempting to shape our own destiny proactively.

By 2020, its impossible. Dont rely on the figures of the Govt. and the planning Commission. We need to travel a long distance. It is impossible for the country to become super power even by 2050. We are lagging behind on many counts. We are still borrowing technology and importing weapons for the security of the land from tiny countries like Israel. Govt. priorities need a sea-change to transform India.

I am little doubtful!!! Very first thing, what we mean by super power? Which areas we are going to consider? Economic, technology, poverty or everything? It's a fact that we are actually lagging much behind in almost every area because our own mistakes !!! Majority of the policies fron any party government are more politically influenced. Take a simple example of reservations based on cast and religion. We call ourselves a secular country but right from school admissions to getting a job, your cast and religion plays important role!!! Talent, capabilities, devotion, commiittment have no value in government sector, which is the backbone of the whole country as far as implementation of policies and government decisions are concerned. If you are giving importatnce to other things than a talent, you can not expect a quality work. Our main problem is, therefore, the government and its policies. Even time based promotions than performance, lack of appreciation, and most important the corruption!! They are killing us. Good performance by private sector will benifit only to that section, not to the country directly......

Why because, we need to examine our politicians that will they allow us to enter into 2020 ? Will they really lead us in a proper way to meet the challenges? if so How? because they are keen in sitting on the chair of power.

The people who are leading this country should change their decision and should have enough boldness to face the consequences to make India 2020.

People have to come up with their strong support & grow their business level then only it will be towards 2020. Do you feel that do we have good leaders for us to lead India 2020......... but I am not sure. All politicians do their work for their generation not for India. Hence do not think that we are becoming superpower 2020. No.... Sorry... please
