India is considered to be as a growing industry, but legal process outsourcing or LPOs is expected to fetch nearly to $20 billion by 2015. One of the biggest driving forces for the success of law schools is that, it absorbs many of the 15,000 law graduates which India produces each year, so even lawyers now are in much demand after the LPOs that have come up in various parts of the country which is offering various services to the law firms across the world..

Yes it will gain real importance now and in the future, before only some legal reaquirements were outsourced but nowadays everything from patent application drafting, legal research, pre-litigation documentation, advising clients, analyzing drafted documents, writing software licensing agreements to drafting distribution agreement is being outsourced to India, so it has a very good future.

LPO would gain importance in India but it would be difficult to gain the momentum as the BPO did in its initial phase. There are limitations LPO would not gain importance as BPO did because

1.) Primarily it is a process which requires trained, skilled, talented and knowledgable workforce who are welverse with the legalities of national as well international law which a laymen doesnt have, whereas in a BPO specific skills are not required to perform the activity even a laymen can perform it.

2.) The confidentiality of the client information is also an critical aspect which the client would look before outsourcing the legal work to the third party.

LPO 's will definitely boom in India as there is always a"BUT" which needs to be seen from all angles even before a company gets into the ambit of LPO. The growth for now on this area seems to be slow for next 2 years atleast and not earlier than this duration.

Yes.. it has already got importance...because there are so many companies like TCS etc are starting LPO's. And there are so many people working as LPO's Like me. Recession is effecting this industry or else by now it would have been a HIT.

I think our young lawyers can try this field of LPO and can excell in the field.  They are fresh from the law school and amenable to easy adoption of new environment and the intricacies of foreign laws.   The skill especially language and the legal acumen has to be sharpened to suite the overseas clients which can be done over a period of few months.   LPO is an industry which is at the growing level, the budding enterpreuners can try out this and it is a wonderful opportunity.   The world is ever changing, new horizons, new areas, one should always try to adopt to the changes and update his knowledge.   A true lawyer is always a student, learns new things in every case.   So  I am confident that LPO will certainly grow as an industry in the near future.

Yes its really gaining importance in India but it is still in very nascent stage as such, the legal requirements of several MNCs in the US and Europe are outsourced to india where they are getting it done at avery cheap cost.

LPO is a specialised field, where BPO is generally attached to each and every business. An LPO in a given circumstance can function as BPO but not vice versa. Popularity of LPO is totally dependent upon the legal awarness and importance it gains in the society as such.

Legal profession is depending on the faith and confidence of the clients. In case of LPO, clients don't know who is his advocate/lawyer, whether he is a quqlified lawyer or not.

No it will not, BPO has become a major economic contributor for the country's growth, but LPOs is in its starting stage, to gain importance as BPO did it has a long way to go.

No it is not gaining as importance as BPO did because mainly the resource for the LPOs that is the employees with the knowledge of law behind it is very less, because the students in india do not take much into law here as there in the other fields because it was not yielding much dividend till now, so to the employees on such a large scale, so for LPOs to gain importance it has a long way to go.
