You are right Japan the product & services which we can sense before buying are preferred to be purchased on line. With continuous assurance and a sense of security, people would have less apprehension in making the purchase online.

Yes in the near future online retail will definitely pickup in India. Its taking some time due to factors like lower PC penetration, Security concerns over online transactions , un organised distribution setup etc. However the good news is that things are improving & with the introduction of net over the phone & ability to pay using mobile phones will increase the online retail considering that our mobile penetration is growing even in rural areas. Also the recently introduced secure code by Credit Card Companies will help in eliminating the fear of online transaction. I see a humongous potentetial for this towqrds the 2nd half of the next decade.

Surely online retail is set to grow but growth would be confined more to estblished brands and services where features are either controled and assured by parent company or can be sensed on the monitor. For new or less established ones,it is still a far cry.

Certainly, it is picking up. The internet is spreading in every nook and corner of the country. The same time a lot of payment options are available cr- dbt cards, net banking, cod, dd, cheque. Also it saves on time and money to buy from an online store.

Yes it will surely pick up. As we get more and more busy the need definately will keep going up. Furter as payment gateways get more secure, plastic cards become more prevalent the propensity to pay thru the net will be more of the order of the day. Of course in India one factor which needs to be overcome is the need for the consumer to "touch & feel" before buying. I feel gifting is a concept which can be really promote onlne as it saves the sender a lot of time at the same time conveying his emotional connect with the recipient. A lot ot product categories for eg watches, mobile phones TVs etc can be easily promoted through online which also protects the interest of the consumers from fake or spurious vendors in the high streets retail outlets. It is just a matter of time when this catches up and with the rate of increase in internet penetration this is bound to go grow exponentially. From the manufacturers point of view this is a very cost effective way of reaching out to consumers with lesser dependence on channel partners. My grey cells are ticking with a lot of ideas on this subject for quite sometime now!!!!!!!

The online retail is picking up and has to go long way in India.. The reasons are the number of net users are incereasing , also there are very lucrative schemes on the net, the secured payment gateways are also there. The consumer goods, Mobile phones are standard and nothing will change one buys from the net or from the store, but if he buys from the net he gets good discounts, schemes, free bees, etc. Thus, i believe that the online retail business has to go a long way in India.

In India people have started using Online stores for there durables shopping since it is slightly cheaper than going to a store and purchase. i know that the percentage is very less but this will catch up according to me in future.

Thanks Makrand for supporting me, I agree to you security is one issue and still most of us would like to feel the product before buying it. I donot agree to Japan Shah, I know that the number of internet users are increasing but do they really go in for e-shopping? In India still the shopping is done by women and the ratio of women using internet is very less. And the point regarding offers, they are also available at retail outlets..

Well Shailena you are only talking about durables and I can
guarantee you that the trend would never come of age in case of any
commodity and that for retail would die soon.

We Indians have a mentality of touching a thing before purchasing it. so I don't think so that it will change or we don't want to change this. So it will not.
