People have tendency that if they had money to spent on luxury products....... They don't care about environment or negative effect of that product to society...... They think if they are satisfied every one also.......

Ask yourself weather u like Ford ikon or a BMW 7 series. small segment is flourishing because middle class people of India are buying cars.If they are wealthy enough they will go for big cars.

Yes, I believe people would still go for big cars coz those who have a passion for big cars would not compromise .Though there is a lot of talk about those eco- friendly cars but still our auto sector has to work a lot in order to provide those in plenty and also performance wise coz at the end of day all of us want something that would suit us budget as well as performance wise. I would also like to add that by getting those 2-3 small cars in a single family replaced by a big car would prove beneficial for them as well as for environment in reducing the harmful emissions.

Definitely people will go for big cars only.Because all will think about the comfort and the luxurious life.If all the family members want to go for a trip then the big cars provide much comfort than going on by any means of transport. It is not the size we have to take into consideration the amount of carbon emissions that they are releasing have to take into account. The car companies have to think to make big cars that are capable of less effect to the environment so that the people can also be satisfied along with the less damage to the environment...............

Yes, big cars are basically becoming a matter of pride and therefore, there should not be a stop for this segment of cars. However, practically seeing the way the population is increasing in most of the upcoming cities and bad infrastructure system, there should be more number of small when compared to big cars running around. .... Thank you, Manish N. Cheers!!

'Big' does not make a much of a difference to pollution but technology does:), and as a big car has its utilitarian advantages, it is more likely to remain than any other personal vehicles till technological transgression into non polluting vehicles happen completely. The other point I would like to convey is that, big cars help in car pooling, which keeps the number of car down, and on the other hand, people with small cars tend to buy more than one car to suit their requirements which will not contribute to betterment of the current condition through any means. All said and done, the choices are with the masses.

I too quite agree with what Mridula and Sharath have expressed, and big cars will see buyers given the fact that small cars are getting more and more popular these days, and there is nothing much to say as both of them have explained it beautifully.

When I say YES, I don't mean that market for big cars is higher than that for small cars. What I understand from the question is "in spite of so much talk about Green, will people go for big cars whioch consume more energy?" I would say, people still go for big cars, mainly for one reason i.e. STATUS. This continues.....it is well explained by Maslow's theroy!!!

Considering the demographics of Indian People, Small Cars will create buzz in every corner of country. And when there is the talk of Big Cars the high class people will never ever can depart away with. Nowadays even top CEO’s prefer small cars like NANO to surf in the city because of its easiness. So Small Cars pretty much will gain much hype than Big Cars. Comfort is what Big Cars are for whereas Small Cars denote Convenience. (A Fact or A Perception)

I oppose that people are going for big cars...As per the present diesel and petrol rates climbing up the chart..people will opt for small cars which are fuel effiecient & gives low emmisions compared to big cars. If u see the sales of maruthi which is making 15% of sales mostly from small car segement like swift and alto....u will come to know how people are addicted to small cars

I agree with what Giridhar said, many leading manufactures are coming up with small cars. This is because they see more demand among the people. It is because India is a developing country and major of the population are middle class, so they like to prefer cost effective and best cars. So its time to say good bye to big cars in India.

Big is not at all a right choice for Indian roads especially in the most frustrated traffic. Also India is more with the middle class people where the potential for the cars in the range of 3-6 lacs are mostly bought by these segment. And by mid of this year you will see a lot more leading brands like VW, Audi, Toyota, Honda, etc., are releasing the small cars with much better features which is no way lesser than the big. And coming to your point of power, though few own the cars like Bentely, Ferrari, Porche have to still restrict to the speed of not more than 40Kmph within the cities and even on the highways its not safe on indian roads to cross 120kmph where small cars are more than sufficient to run at this speed with the more fuel efficiency. Big cars are only meant for the self esteem and people tend to buy big to show off though they very well knew that it really doesn't suffice the purpose of their usage within the city limits. and parking is really a big problem.

India market is where SMALL is BIG. Metro's are seeing incresing sales of small premium hatrchbacks.Though big cars also have registered increase but their overall contribution is 10 %. Traffic congestion, inadequate parking, high duties on cars are pushing for high end hatchbacks.
