Dark clouds of suspicion have hung about judges for years because of their stubborn reluctance to make their assets public. It has finally been blown away by the winds of transparency generated by a full court resolution of the Supreme Court on August 26.

The August 26 decision has punctured the confidentiality clause. This means, every new acquisition of asset or fresh investment by a judge, spouse or dependent will have to be put in a public domain.

Will politician go the same way? The politicians declare their assets on affidavits only prior to contesting elections. Will they follow the judges and post on websites their assets and investments and update it with every new acquisition and money transfer?

At the time of elections, we come across affidavits telling how their riches have swelled dramatically in the last five years. During the last general elections, we saw how some managed to increase their wealth from lakhs to crores and from crores to hundreds of crores of rupees.

Will they explain the unusual rate of growth of their wealth? Revelations about the mean and modes to multiply wealth could provide ideas to a large chunk of citizens, who have been struggling for years to cross the poverty line. After all, politicians are the leaders of the masses who should voluntarily take the lead to remove all misgivings of the citizens about them.

What do you think? Will politicians diclose their wealth in public domain?

I don't think that politicians will be easily ready to disclose their asset in public domain. It will put lot of pressure on them as and when new wealth added to their existing one.

They have to give clarification if the quantum of additional wealth is of little abnormal. It will put lot of harassment on their part.

Whatever mentioned in the article is a very good thing and being a public servent netas are liable to show transparency. If it happens then I think problem of black money/corruption will be solved.

Politician will have to declare their wealth public domain, subjected to a law .if they are forced to disclose by certain date and afterwards if they dont CBI will be free to declare by using their ways, getting value calculated by valuers etc.

Also if the declared value in previous election swelled from thousands to million and million to thousand of million,a high level of income tax inquiry is placed and performed.

The present generation of politicians, with a very few exceptions, is a curse for India.

Just as the British adopted divide and rule policy, our own men in power also divide and rule us. There are not many politicians who want to present India to the people as one nation. Efforts like spreading positive ideas among people, teaching them discipline and citizenship, inspiring them to work hard and come up in life - all these do not appeal to them. By adopting these methods they cannot become 'leaders' soon. For all these they have to spend time and energy. They are not for it.

On the other hand, they may pit a caste against another, they may create problems based on language, they may show political stunts, - by these negative methods they can become leaders more easily. They can enlist criminals in their organizations and present themselves as dhadhas and instil fear in the minds of the people about them. Once somewhat settled in political life, they can take the law into their hands and behave arrogantly without fear of any authority and mint money. This is the kind of democracy we have.

Most of the persons enter into politics to make money fast. How they would declare wealth and behave as responsible citizens?

No they wont. it is anybodys guess.

Politicians are least bothered lot. they all know that they are elected to make and amass money.and people know about it .it is known thing(to make a easy comparison, its like sex ,it is a existing activity for procreation and nobody does it or discloses in public-As an Indian i have to mention here that no vulgarity intended, purely a comparison only)

All the Same this is a route for proamassing of wealth.if you take 98% of the politicians today were common low to misddle class before they entered politics, but from one election affidavit to another election affidavit you can see the income just multiplying in huge proportions ,and what happens -it is now  a means  to make black into white. so by next election "forget it i was rich during my last election itself i have disclosed all my wealth " attitude is seen

Is there a system to track his wealth from scratch? NO

For example Look at Past PM devegowda! he did not have money for 3 square meals when he was a small time piece rate labour contractor in bangalore (In bangalore all know this) but today you cannot immagine his wealth! who bells the cat?

So cats themselves will not want to bell themselves.

No politician would ever be ready to disclose any of his bank account so easily. The reason is, if it is done, all their black money will be disclosed. To make them tell about their bank account, the government has to put a lot of pressure on them so that there is no other way for them than to disclose their bank account....
