: RFID can be used to automate and thus streamline identification processes,

which means that more checkpoints along the supply chain can be established at

decreased costs. Reducing cost is definitely a good thing in fmcg.

Even though RFID technology has initially been developed decades ago, the use of

RFID in large-scale supply chain operations has until now been prohibited due to the

relatively high costs compared to other Auto-ID solutions. Unless there is a brea through in cost of implementation not all of the retailers and scm s can use the technology

RFID functiolity is getting matured. it can be used for more things. It is chainging SCM. Think about it.. less and less touch point.. no more counting of items, no more scanning of serial numbers. Having complete tracking of prescription drugs.. it is changing, it has changed. it will change more.
