1. The global outsourcing market seems to be doing well, with decent numbers from Accenture, IBM, etc. The $ 650 bn market continues to be doing fine and companies are increasing their outsourcing. In a slowdown, end users tend to outsource a larger part of their requirement as companies move towards variable costs.

2. The India global delivery model has a share of only about 7% of the total global outsourcing pie and I have rarely seen the market share of a new delivery model saturate at 7%. The current slowdown may see the India business slowdown, but the more important number to watch out for is India's market share of the larger pie.

3. With the Rupee weakening the way it is, pricing competitiveness improves a lot.

The news is that the country's big three outsourcers Infosys, Tata Consultancy Services, and Wipro are experiencing slow revenue or income growth in their quarterly results for the period that ended June 30 and they blamed challenging global economic conditions as a reason. I feel Indian companies will face the heat in next quarter if foreign companies postpone decisions on outsourcing.

Ravi shankar ji i agree that in the global slowdown companies will be outsourcing more work to cut down costs as they need to find ways where they can save money and as you said with the weakening of rupee they will be getting more revenue which will help them in their operations. But what do you think about the US government telling their companies to not to outsource the work so as to save the jobs for american poulation. How this can effect the indian outsourcing industry.

Yes, because, going by the "Lean" Philosophy, India is the best option, and the most prominent Option for any company which is looking in the area of IT Services / Support / Design, to get the best service delivery / output / quality with minimum cost involved.  One caution though, this is possible only if they setup sites in India itself, if they want Indians to go abroad and work, they are investing a lot of money which can be saved.

The continuing global economic downturn presents foreign companies with a growing challenge to cut internal fixed costs and maximize profits,so one obvious solution is to outsource IT functions as well as other business processes.

Mr Obama (nominee for US president) has clearly said that "either INDIA will pay higher taxes or we will get our business back".
