The statements during election can't be taken seriously, I agree on this but it will give an probable indications on the future course of events. Moreover, with recession looming large over the US economy and the resulting rise in unemployment, there is a possibility that US President-elect Barrack Obama reverse the offshoring trend in the US. In fact Obama's tech paper also says that he will invest in
human capital to ensure that Americans young people have the skills to fill
the growing number of information technology jobs being created
globally, and will also support pilot programs that provide incentives
for businesses to grow their information technology workforce in
inner-cities and rural communities...with such signs what else we can expect.

Definitely it will have effect because Barack obama considers India and China both as serious competitors that are trying to steal jobs from naive Americans...

yes there will be greater effect on the IT industry as such the
whole government is changing in the US and may be the new government
there might not appreciate too much of outsourcing during the
financial crisis.

Yes there will be the effect on the IT industry as you know in the
presendential run up campaigns Obama said that he will stop the jobs
going from america to the other countries, as he was mentioning about
the outsourcing of work to others around the world, so yes it will
have a great impact on the IT industry.

I dont think this will have any impact on business as we r still going through the recession phase... and if american wants to payy for bread and butter they nedd to provide business to India or china...They prefer to have it in India because of the language and polical barriers in China. I think we should wait for more business flow

It will not effect as the companies are running into losses and if they want the same work to be done frm there it will be even more expensive.

With his(obama) conservative stance on outsourcing and the current
global financial mess, we will see a negative impact on offshoring in
the short term but in the long run we will see more
offshoring. They (US) don’t have that many engineers. How will they
manage
without offshoring. I do
not expect new American government will try to discourage offshore outsourcing...

No there will be no impact, but there will be less outsourcing, but
then its up to us how we lure them to outsource with special economic
reforms, and if elections are held on properly there will be new
government in India also, so i guess both the new governments would
strike up a good deal relating not only to the IT industry and
outsourcing but others as well.
