The "city loyalties" had been built up in the competitive spirit of the inaugural IPL T20 series in India last year. But this time IPL is being held in South Africa. What kind of loyalty will be seen in South Africa? Modi wants the city teams to remain as city teams but will the citizens of South Africa support the city teams as whole or will the South African players attract more loyalty?

According to me, there are many Indians in South Africa who are passionate about cricket and IPL and they will definitely show City Loyalty as the Concept of IPL is built on it. Now talking about SAfrican audience they might be biased about the players but will ultimately support the team in which the SA player is playing. So there will definitely be the spirit of City Loyalty.

I completely agree with Ayan that there will be city team loyalty. Even if a people are supporting a single player they are supporting the entire team.

And one more reason for the survival of this concept is the way in which these teams are branded. The teams are not branded by the variety of different players but they branded in the spirit of that particular CITY.
