There is a talk among the expertise that U.S dollar will strengthen in 2009 because if the Federal Reserve exits quantitative easing sooner than its counterparts and the US economy enjoys a strong come back.

I don't think U.S dollar will strengthen in 2010 because their level of external debt is very high and the fiscal deficit is almost 13.5 per cent of its GDP. U.s economy is not able to export to other countries and it is badly effecting the economy. So in order to come out from this great external debt economy wants to have long time. So in this situation, if the Federal Reserve exits quantitative easing sooner than its counterparts also it wont help dollar to come back in 2010.

It think both US monetary and fiscal policy will join forces to push long-term rates higher when quantitative easing ends. The end of quantitative easing in 2010 and the start of the tightening cycle in the US are both supportive forces for the dollar. So this means that the phasing out of quantitative easing implies that the dollar may strengthen in 2010 relative to other currencies.

I agree with Archana's view. The USD will tumble again in the world market. Once OPEC agrees for receiving the oil money other than USD means, it will big blow. Another main concern is Middleast elite rich are converting their USD investments, it's slowly happening. There will be sea change sooner or later. On the other hand, Euro, Yen are getting stronger. The new US president will not stop this fall.
