In a Recent development it is said that US has just made life difficult for many of the Indian and other Biotech companies around the world.  US is introducing Exclusivity rights to protect the interest of parent companies which have found the drug and not the biosimilar or Bio-improvics(which has incremental innovation on existing products)

And with these Biosimilars which were produced in a new way which made life difficult for the parent company to fight against other companies as Indian Patent law gives permission for companies to derive the same drug in a cheaper manner, so with this most of the Indian companies were planning to market their products abroad mostly US which is a huge market with lesser price games.

but then with this exclusivity law will hurt them i guess or else they can concentrate on other markets than US for their products,

So will this US exclusivity law hurt Indian Biotech companies or not??

Of course. This law will certainly hit Indian biotech companies. The Indian biotech companies that were aiming to launch cheaper drugs in the US after a change in legislation ensured protection for the biotech companies that originally discovered the drugs now will face a little tough times.

I think it will hurt them a bit , as majority of Biotech companies plans was to exapnd their strong foothold in the US market with their products, which were similar and with a lesser price tag to go around, but then with this exclusivity law its made life difficult for the moment and will surely feel the pinch.

i don't think so, just because US is closing the doors doesn't mean that there will be no opportunity, there are many 3rd world countries which needs drugs at a much cheaper price and these are the areas that Indian Biotech companies should focus on and indeed these countries are the potential prospects than US, so i don't think this will have a much effect as suggested by Mr. Saha
