As you might have seen in many websites where there is ads of L.K.Advani for PM, where if one clicks he is going to the blogs of L.K.Advani and his site. And this sort of trend was introduced by the current U.S. President Obama, where he used web 2.0 tools extensively in his election campaign. Some candidates in U.S. tried blogging and setting up websites in prior elections. Obama went many steps ahead of them and used tools such as Central Desktop to organize the volunteers and execute the campaign. As we all know as this garnered him huge no. of votes and got him the seat at white house, so in a similar way even Advani is going for the same thing.

will this work out for him?

will the use of web 2.0 by him help in anyway in the coming polls??

Internet is surely the way to reach maximum no of people in shortest possible time. The purpose of www.lkadvani.in is the same. It augments the process of reaching people. Today there is a huge difference in demography and urbanisation is also happening at a great pace. Youth and Educated people have started using Internet and almost 20-30% of time is devoted to Internet everday. Similarly people can share views, suggest ideas, express their thoughts with leaders like Advaniji and also with each other without having to meetup. Even in rural areas Youth have started using Internet.

With less than 1% of the electorate having access to the internet, it wont even make a dent.

Mr.Viniti agree with you. When the people of the country are changing with time then why not politicians and this is surely the way where a politician can interact with many people and try to woo the voters online.

It will definitey gives an advantage to the candidate to make himself more accessible to the people.

I personally think this campaign will support BJP. As we all know, every party is targeting indian youths to vote for, and most of indian youths are working in IT and related sectors where they have direct access of internet. So in my opinion, nothing less than Internet could be a good medium of targeting youths.

Also, as these campaign techniques are new in India, these kind of campaigns method will create a buzz in Indian media and blogging arena, and more and more people will come to know about the party policies and their manifesto.

According to me it might help him in a very minuscule manner in India, as most of the Indians don't turn up to vote at all and the younger generation is the one who mostly miss out on polls, as young generation are the one who are the most web savvy people, might workout and may turn up for the polls and cast their vote. So he is making sure that the percentage of votes go higher this time and towards his party.

i agree with all the arguments, and yes it will not help in any way for his campaign, as most of the voting percentage are from rural india, and so it doesn't matter..

Most of the BJP office bearers are drawing room politician. They don’t know about India. They should use web to inform middleclass about their programmes and their future plans for India, not for canvassing. Propaganda politics cant be done on net coz users are not fool.

I don't think so it will help in any manner as nobody wants a BJP governement at the helm, and even though if he attracts web savvy people the number of votes that he gets is very less from them, as they usually don't go for polls, where figures indicate that in urban cities where there is not even 50% of voting happening, so i don't see how web 2.0 will help advani's campaign.
