In the name of outsourcing the American neo cons and their sponsoring corporations keep exploiting Indian cyber slaves. Recently Wipro Technologies, the global IT services business of Wipro Limited, and Microsoft Corporation announced the expansion of their strategic alliance. The alliance uses Microsoft technologies instead of challenging Gates in his own game.

Anurag, Rohit. I don"t agree with you. Well, I dont think Big four IT companies like Wipro, TCS etc. will ever get into product space. Firstly I think enterprise software product space is already quite mature. SAP, Oracles, microsoft and all have good grip of the market. Services companies like EDS tried to get into IT product space for growth, but finally realised its not their cup of tea and sold their product divisions. So big four should only focus on services and somehow remove linear relation between their revenues and manpower requirements.

Rightly said MR.Sourav, if one can make softwares for the clients. Then they can surely make for themself and sell those in US and other countries., But the requirement keeps changing so better not to take risk at this moment.

I strongly feel that Indian comapnies with their experience of Software development and customisation will soon enter Packaged Software Products, its both synergy and competence thats on the side of Indian companies as well as Brand name....its a matter of time only.....

The BIG Players are very comfortable in Services. Primarily because of the revenue that it is generating. But certain small Players have more niche capability to develop an indigenous software, but they are either merged or acquired by the established players like Microsoft, Oracle, etc.

TCS or WIPRO may not because these companies are not focusing much on product development. However there are large set of Indian companies which are into niche areas definitely doing and surviving. May be TCS and WIPRO can do their bit by inorganic growth after all they are rich companies.

We have the talent pool, experience and expertise as mentioned by you people but do our big notches ready to take such a risk. I believe that for a country so much dependent on foreign patronage for its economic survival, it is too much to "think big".
Moreover try selling a product to an organization. They will automatically go for a brand name like Microsoft or IBM because it is easy to justify their decision and they can cover themselves from being blamed if there is an implementation failure.

I agree with Uday. There is definetely skills in these companies to build products that can be sold in US market. But not sure if management of these companies would be ready to dedicate billions of dollars required to make the software product commercial success.
