Will you make a social networking site to be your homepage??

In a recent development in the webworld we are seeing that Facebook is increasingly interested in making their site as your homepage on your PC wherever you are. It means that their site is the doorway for other things, and thats why we are seeing Facebook add so many features to its parent site. which now has places, social inbox and many other things, being a homepage is a great advantage which Google enjoyed till now, now Social networking sites are coming with options like this to make their sites as your homepage and from there you land up elsewhere.

yes, today people are more interested in what others are doing in social networking sites like what my friend has commented on, or which photo he has shared and which video he has uploaded, how many times when we first come to our office or switch on the comp. we first check out social networking accounts to see what are the updates that has happened when you used it for the last time. Earlier it was google, and from there we used to land up elsewhere, if an option is there like this you can also see what's happening regularly and also go elsewhere too..

This is a tricky question. First you talk about Facebook and then the question you mention Social networking site.

I take the question then and ignore Facebook.

Also reading the responses, many of you compare Google search page with Facebook. In my opinion, also wrong.

Google is a general or global search engine. I search for nice thing there, but my problem with Google is the information overload and a lot of 'garbage' in the result pages.

When I search something, I get many times better result to use the search engine of the social networking sites like StumbleUpon or Twitter or Digg or many of the other hundreds of social networking sites out there.I ignore facebook, because that's a site specialized for socializing and networking with my friends and contacts.

If my daily work is specifically on social networking, then yes, I would do that.

No. I have things I want to know when I fire up my computer. While Social Media is what I do, one of those sites isn't going to be my home page. :)

No ways, as social networking site have their own limitations while search engines like google, yahoo & rediff serve more purpose both personally & professionally.
