The Aamir Khan-starrer 3 Idiots which is the most awaited Bollywoood film of 2009, on which producer Vidhu Vinod Chopra is banking on this to bargain for an exceptionally good financial deal.

It is said that Chopra is negotiating with multiplex and theatre owners to raise ticket prices almost 35 per cent for evening shows and over 100 per cent for morning shows, the highest-ever rate increase for any Bollywood film. The movie releases on December 25.

Earlier Multiplexes were charging an average of Rs 250 for afternoon and evening shows. Morning shows are priced between Rs 80 and Rs 100. But Vidhu Vinod Chopra is insisting that theatres must increase prices to Rs 300-350 for evening shows and Rs 200 for morning shows.  So, guys will you shell out more money for 3 Idiots in Multiplexes? Do share your views.

It's difficult to say whether one will shell out more or not in this case, as this being Holiday season for many, people would like to have some quality time with family and what better than catching a movie something like 3 Idiots which is already creating waves even before it has released, and even the reviews are good, so people might shell out more for this movie in Multiplexes, and during this holiday there will be more advance bookings that will happen, so people who can afford, it won't bother them if 100 Rs is more for the ticket. And today there are very less quality single screen theatres in which these movies can be really enjoyed,  but then for a common man they are just making it out of reach actually, in a way which will dampen the business in the country for them.

Obviously i will spend extra money for movie like '3 idiots' at multiplex. As per my thinking,we all are now so busy in making our career and with daily life rather we are always into a rat race as market is now so competative. In between if we are getting sometime for entertainment and refreshment then obviously we will want relaxsation, soothing atmosphere,in total a good ambiance. That we could get in a multiplex. Then what is the problem in spending some extra bugs in that?

I agree with purvi and as I am writing this I have already seen it on the news channels that there is a mixed response for the high priced tickets which is priced at Rs. 300, but I think the verdict is already out that people are indeed spending this amount for the movie. Apart form that the timing of release is also important as this is a long weekend and people are already in the mood to usher the new year and let me add that we are not becoming idiots this year we were always and will be as long as we are common people so ALL IS WELL!!!

Keeping the general tendency of today's crowd, i am giving this view and not my (as i dont watch much movies). The movies which get in today whether 3 Idiots or 4, have no much problems in getting their investments back, as today's people want some entertainment especially during weekends, as no much entertainment is as good as movies for the Indian families. So i feel people would not mind paying more and get entertained, also when its casting actor like Aamir Khan and Kareena. And people feel great and proud (from others point of view) watching movies in Multiplex. And again in india movies are produced keeping EMOTIONS of general public in mind.... I Swear!!...... Thank you, Manish N.

Cheers!!

Well, with due respect, let us realize that it is JUST a movie! There is nothing path-breaking or utopian about it. It is a stark commercial project and package with feel good message to draw out the audience. The essense is said and conveyed and reiterated number of times before by psychologists and pundits in so many different fashions. It is known and established facts. In certain countries, the aptitude test of the child is taken to decide his/her area of interest. There in nothing NEW excpet that Aamir and Kareina, the glamour symbols were there to say it.....! Please let us treat it as a movie only. If we have liked it ok.....but let us not acoord it any kind of gospel image.......

With due respect, we have to understand and realize that it is only a movie. It is a commerical project and package with feel good message. How can we think in such submissive fashion as if something path-breaking is being said or shown? It has been said and underlined for number of years by various psychologists to pundits.....there is nothing new.....excpet the half-hearted message is being conveyed by glamous bollywood stars like Aamir n Kareina.............well, for heaven's sake it is just a moive..................

i did the same! was not ready to spend more money to c it, so i waited n finally watched. but after watching i realised that if i wud hav spent double of the amy. also , it wud hav had worth for that. but the extra amt people r paying is going to VVC's pocket not for some charity fund. but this idiot doesnt realise that the msg they want to convey shud reach the masses of every corner. after pointing on parents and teachers and system, i thnk the next film hirani shud make on poor producers like VVC. but i wud like to say "hats-off" to the team of 3 idiots for wat they hav delivered. so all those people whor thinking to spend more money on tickets, i wud say- wait, but dont forget to see and dont forget after watching it.

this much rate again leads to privacy where we could buy the movie for 50 bucks! these producers themselves are promoting piracy in this way.
