Will the Google phone be a tough competitor to Apple's iPhone?

Apple's next-gen iPhone still looks pretty, The overall package of the iPhone (especially after the update) will make it VERY hard for people to leave it once they’ve experienced one. But the same will go for anyone who gets used to the features on the Google phone, So What do you think can Google Android could really take down on iPhone 3G in the upcoming phone wars?

I think, what Google Phone currently lacks in features and design, it makes up with performance. Initial reviews reveal that using Internet on the G-Phone is like a breeze. Google has always tried to offer services that are easy to use; be it the search engine or the latest browser or the G-phone. And although, it currently lacks all the gimmicks that the iPhone has, one shouldn't forget that Android is an Open-Sorurce platform, which means many innovative and useful applications will be available in the future. Google is also trying to make the developer community a part of their G-Phone project with this. Having said that, the one major chance that Google has missed as of now is to add video-recording feature in the G-Phone. That would have been a big blow to iPhone, however, looking at how Google has dominated to tried to dominate any space they have entered, I am sure that Steve Jobs is peparing himself for the competition ahead.

I strongly believe its Google, Google is merely expanding the segment that apple is teaching the ways of the connected culture. The iphone is not merely a phone, its a cultural device, much like the ipod is. Though the ipod played the role of expanding the segment of users, from the poorly designed mp3 players. Thus Google and android is doing to the iphone what ipod did to mp3. A nice cyclical system in action. Following Apple with a difference !!!

In my opinion 80% of iPhone users are using 10 or more features of their iPhone..  Apple succeeds because they make great software that is easy to use. Add to that great design and the ease with which it syncs to Apple's other products and even Windows, it's a no-brainer. Apple is here to stay, Google doesn't stand a chance.
