Yes, windows Os domination will end as there are many issues using it at either side may be at Client of Server and the administrator always has to suffer from it so gradually many servers of well known companies are successfully migrating to LINUX for the security and stability issues. So soon LINUX will dominate Windows.

OOPS!........ I am waiting for that day and I think the day is not far which will render a new style of windows as Apple inc and Google are working really hard in this regard. Have you heard of the Google Chromepad where it will come preinstalled with Chrome OS 2.0 and will be up-gradable online moreover that will be over the cloud system means no more strain and pain on the hardware.

The Kaspersky Lab might have played the trick of 'Content Analysis' which has had its roots in the World War-II. During that War,Research Experts wanted a method for information on the enemy Nations which is this. Communication Professionals , Harold and Paul worked as per the method to find the strain on People, Industry and Economy but opined that Supplies, Production and Food always kept secret. The method is applied now commercially, according to me. When something new is to be introduced , a couple of things like huge collection of programs that even MS's millionaire Programmers haven't time to smooth out but get stumped for economic reasons are instrumental to monitor social change when many people dream of the day when they can give orders to their Computers by talking to it because most people would rather avoid typing . MS MACROS don't eliminate typing entirely ! In today's fast forward approach, "only originals ,no duplication" styles of survival , the short & long hands of time are aleady destroyed by the original digital time within an operating system and no matter Windows' OS domination commercially currently may take a back seat sooner . sd/- Dr.Rojukurthi Sudhakar Rao , ex-C.S.I.R Jr.Research Scholar@Andhra Univers'. on my personal business home HP L'TOP 520 MODEL. Thanks Amrita 4 Invite Yes for Gaming and entertainment Windows is definitely loosing charm but for office documents and all this is still the first choice at least in India and other Asian Contires. This is also true because we are so used to use Windows that to adjust to other OS will take time and that is not affordable just for any firm

It is good to have so many different OS to choose from - good for the user but I do not think that domination will end because they have been in this market for so long - their market share might come down a little bit.

The user base may reduce to certain extent because of rise of some other OS but domnination will not end at all. They will keep themselves in the leader's position somehow....

Windows is particularly famous for its GUI (Graphical User Interface) and its user friendliness. No doubt now a days more numbers of open source and GUI OS are become available but hardly they are upto the mark like Windows. So still now it is the market leader through out the globe which has now competitors like google, sun microsystem etc.. Somehow it may lose its business but thinking that Windows domination will come to an end that, in this decade is not a wise thinking.. It'll surely take much more time than a single decade.

windows operating system will be the most preferred for another 2 to three decades,it is just like seeing movie on your t.v or a movie on multiplexes, and Microsoft may loose market but it will remain the leader because of the graphic user interface, which will be the preferred by the commercial users,to some extent it may loose to competitors and mobile telephony. Windows was the first graphic user interface unlike other character user interface. As long as Character user interface was there the computer use was limited to the techies. With use of GUF windows had revolutionised the computer accessability and made the common man the use of computers and all the benefits associated with it. As long as there are people with not so much of technical skills the windows operating system will stay in the field. With the popularity of Windows OS due to GUF other OS are also going for this interface. So kudos Bill Gates.

No,Thats not the fact,Its one of the biggest dream of all open source public. Since such kind of news was always here & there from past 25 years but nothing happened. All open source OS were exist when windows was there but still they are not lucrative, attractive & non-standard see the recent example of Nokia OS , PALM OS all are going out of mobile domain on same line others will also gone if they do not put r&d efforts. its not an issue of OS design & build but mostly its issue of money. None of company in IT is capable of putting all assets in doing R&D & making quick updates in OS /Tools/Framework across all verticals for which the Microsoft capable of so no we have to wait for next 25to 50 years for giant companies who will starts fighting against the big bull
